Syrian gang arrested for robbing Asian bachelors
KUWAIT CITY, May 3: Police have arrested six Syrians for robbing Asians, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily quoting security sources said police acting on information arrested one of the suspects who was about to leave the country because he was involved in many thefts.
However, when police raided the man’s apartment in Farwaniya they found five other men in possession of stolen cell phones and a quantity of money and sharp objects which they used in threatening expatriates before looting them.
According to security sources one of the suspects dressed as a woman knocked on the apartment doors where the so-called bachelors lived and when someone answered the door the five others would barge in and rob the expatriates of their money and valuables.
During interrogation the suspects said that most of the stolen money they had spent at billiard halls.
Drugs, mishaps kill: The monthly statistics issued by the Criminal Evidences Department show four people — three Kuwaitis and one expatriate — died in April from an overdose of drugs, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The statistics also show 31 people, including 11 Kuwaitis, died in traffic accidents during the same month.
4 cranes stolen: Police are looking for unidentified thieves for stealing four cranes, reports Arrouiah daily.
According to security sources the cranes belonged to a Kuwaiti man and were parked on an open ground opposite the Public Ports Authority.
Armed robbery: Police are looking for a five masked men riding a 4-wheel drive for robbing a Bangladeshi man in Farwaniya, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
In his compliant to the police the victim said the men were armed with knives. The men got down from their vehicles, grabbed the man’s wallet containing KD 155 and cell phone and escaped.
24,800 citations issued: Statistics issued by the General Traffic Department show 24,800 traffic citations issued in Hawalli alone during April 2010, reports Arrouiah daily.
The daily did not give more details.
Woman, son hurt: A Kuwaiti woman and her son sustained minor injuries following a three-vehicle collision in Sulaibikhat, reports Arrouiah daily.
Traffic was blocked for some time.
