MoH interviews 1,400 nurses out of 2,000 MS to be treated through catharsis on experimental basis

KUWAIT CITY, May 3:  Assistant Undersecretary for Support Medical Services Affairs Dr Qays Al-Duwairi said the Ministry of Health has completed personal interviews of more than 1,400 out of 2,000 nurses, who met all the specified conditions, reports Al-Rai daily. Al-Duwairi explained this is part of the ministry’s commitment to provide enough nursing staff in public medical institutions.  He affirmed the ministry intends to contract with 300 out of the 1,400 applicants.

On the other hand, Director of the Pre-Marriage Examination Center Dr Yaqoub Al-Kandari clarified there will be an electronic networking between the main pre-marriage examination center and its branches, as well as the main laboratories in Shaab and Maternity Hospital.  He added this will be done after the opening of all centers, which will most likely be completed within this year.

Meanwhile, Minister of Health Dr Hilal Al-Sayer has given the green light to use the latest discovery on the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) through catharsis on an experimental basis. Al-Sayer made the statement in a recently-concluded meeting with a medical team specialized in blood vessels, including doctors Tareq Sinan, Hussain Saqer, Abdulrahman Al-Mazidi, a group of neurologists, Undersecretary Dr Ibrahim Al-Abdulhadi and Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs Dr Yousif Al-Nesif.

Sources revealed the meeting, which lasted for about an hour and a half, resulted in an agreement on taking many steps to treat MS through catharsis, which will be used on two batches of patients.  Sources explained the first batch will include 100 patients, who will undergo catharsis within the next four months and will be stopped for one month for the experts to study the results.  If the results are positive, then the same treatment will be done for the second batch, consisting of 500 patients.  However, if the results are negative, the operations for the first batch will be stopped and the method will no longer be used.
