Kuwait’s Amir HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah arrives for the dinner
‘Amir’s Italy visit has importance to European-Gulf ties’ Kuwaiti General Consul in Milan hosts Sheikh Sabah

FLORENCE, Italy, April 30, (KUNA): The visit of His Highness the Amir of (Kuwait) Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to Italy is important, said a European parliamentarian to KUNA.
Member of the foreign affairs committee of the European Parliament Paolo Bartolozzi said that the visit has importance to the European-Gulf relations.
Bartolozzi, who is a founding member of the Italian-Kuwaiti friendship society, said that the visit of Sheikh Sabah, who is the current head of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), has significance to security, stability, peace, and trade, cultural, and economic ties.
He said Italy was keen on strengthening ties and boosting cooperation with Kuwait.
The ties between the two countries became stronger because of the support of Italy to Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion and after the liberation, he stressed.
Sheikh Sabah is a high-ranking international figure who developed Kuwait’s cultural, social, and economic ties with all countries, he noted.
His Highness also played a major role in the Gulf and Arab policies and relations with Europe and North America, he added.
Under the wise leadership of Sheikh Sabah, Kuwait will continue to have an important role regionally and internationally, leading the policy of openness and dialogue, he emphasized.
The EU, like all international organizations and bodies, considers Sheikh Sabah a figure who is able to express the large energy of a small country, he said.
He pointed out that it was significant to sign the free trade agreement between the European Union (EU) and the GCC.
Meanwhile, HH the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on Thursday attended a dinner held in his honor by Kuwaiti General Consul to Milan Sami Abdulaziz Al-Hamad.
The dinner, also attended by delegation accompanying the Amir, comes on the occasion of HH’s visit to Italy.
