KUWAIT CITY, April 26: The finals in a number of categories of  the     15th Conference 4th Goodyear Tires Cup, being organized  by Filipino Badminton Association in Ahmadi (FBAA),  were  held at the Fahaheel Sports Center in Fahaheel, Friday.
The remaining   championships —  Men’s A, Men’s B / Ladies A, Mixed A, Mixed C and Ladies A / B — will be decided after  the games on Friday, April 30 at the same venue.
SK Engineering and Construction walked  home with this season’s team  crown after winning  89 matches  and on their trail were   Worley Parsons with 87 victories   followed by Mohamed Abdulrahman Al-Bahar with 86 matches  won that gave  them the 1st and 2nd runners-up trophies respectively.
On the other hand, Goodyear Tires finished 3rd runners-up with 64 victories,  while Western Union Money Transfer and Maidan Dental Clinic had  the same  number of victories with  61 but  Western Union gained 192 set points whereas Maidan had 175.    
On the other hand, the tandem of Gaurav Joshi and Vince Vidal took  the title in Open Doubles A & B class with an undefeated run in their 9 games while Frank Montesclaros and Majed Abdul Aziz acquired the throne in the Open Doubles Men’s C and Ladies A/B event. 
Men’s A
Western Union vs SK Engineering
Western Union collected  4-2 points against SK Engineering after  Sherwin Felizardo and Allan Bondoc   overwhelmed Joenel Seva and Norman Abad 15-12, 19-17, Sherwin Felizardo and Emil Millanar thumped Joenel and Gerry Aguilar 15-8, 15-10, Allan and Rommel Carlos outlasted Norman and Francis Enriquez in a seesaw battle 16-14, 12-15, 15-13 and Allan and Emil edged Norman and Gerry 15-8, 8-15, 15-11.
SK Engineering got their victories  when Gerry Aguilar and Francis Enriquez   overpowered Emil Millanar and Rommel Carlos 15-12, 15-8 and Joenel and Francis blended well on the courts and wasted no effort to beat Sherwin Felizardo and Rommel Carlos 15-11, 15-4.
Al Bahar vs Worley Parsons
Al Bahar almost accomplished a landslide victory against Worley Parsons when  Jon-Jon Torres and Ron Margate outlasted Forp Alonzo and Jong Rimando 15-7, 10-15, 15-11, William Naoe and Tony Osea outclassed Philip Marimla and Anthony Mendoza in a seesaw battle 15-13, 8-15, 15-13, Jon-Jon and William wasted no time to beat Forp and Philip 15-8, 15-13, Jon-Jon and Tony outlasted Forp and Anthony 13-15, 15-9, 15-10 and Ron and William thumped Jong and Philip 15-12, 15-13 while Worley Parsons acquired a single victory by default.
Maidan vs Goodyear Tires
Maidan had 4-2 wins against Goodyear Tires as  Carlo Bornilla and Dave Laguio  outclassed Bon Elamparo and Mike Florendo 15-6, 10-15, 15-13, Carlo and Joshua Lagran thumped Bon and Gaurav 15-9, 15-11, Carlo and Ed outclassed Bon and Jeb 15-12, 13-15, 15-9 and  Dave and Joshua outlasted Mike and Gaurav 12-15, 15-9, 15-8.
Goodyear Tires gained their victories  through Gaurav Joshi and Jeb Elamparo when they outclassed Joshua Lagran and Ed Antonio 7-15, 15-10, 15-12 with  the match  being  won by default.
Men’s B / Ladies A
Worley Parsons vs SK Engineering
Worley Parsons acquired 4-2 points against SK Engineering after  July Espiritu and Maricel Romano   fought for every point to edge Chris Hernandez and Jyotish 13-15, 17-15, 17-15, Nelson Pamfilo and Aileen Perez outlasted Vince Vidal and Hans Ita-as 15-13, 18-19, 15-11, July and Nelson tamed Chris and Vince 17-15, 15-8 while July and Aileen overwhelmed Chris and Hans 16-14, 15-7.
Meanwhile, SK Engineering scored through Jyotish and Hans who thumped Maricel and Aileen 15-7, 15-11 while Jyotish and Vince brushed aside Maricel and Nelson 15-12, 15-9.
Goodyear Tires vs Maidan
Goodyear Tires completed a landslide victory against Maidan as  Janette Rimando and Anthony Valdez  outclassed Lala Tan and Rio Ferrer 15-12, 3-15, 15-12, Ryan Aguilar and Dianne Lapason brushed aside Roma Valdez and Arcee Florendo 19-18, 15-9, Janette Rimando and Ryan Aguilar outlasted Lala and Roma 15-8, 11-15, 15-11, Anthony and Dianne hammered Rio and Arcee 15-12, 15-10, Janette and Dianne tamed Lala and Arcee 16-14, 15-9 and Anthony and Ryan edged  Rio and Roma 6-15, 15-13, 15-13.
Al Bahar vs Western Union
Al Bahar collected  4-2 points against Western Union after  Tim Torres and Arjay Lesaca wasted no effort to thrash Robert Gubat and Francis Salazar 15-7, 15-6, Omi Herrera and Annie Blouin overwhelmed Jonathan Munalem and Tony Elamparo 16-14, 15-13, Arjay Lesaca and Annie Blouin tamed Francis Salazar and Tony Elamparo 18-16, 15-6 and Tim and Annie crushed Robert and Tony in  back to back sets 15-8, 15-8.
On the other hand, Western Union won when  Robert Gubat and Jonathan Munalem hammered Tim Torres and Omi Herrera 15-9, 15-9 while Francis Salazar and Jonathan Munalem put in their best effort to outclass  Arjay Lesaca and Omi Herrera 13-15, 15-12, 15-12.

SK Engineering accomplished 4-2 wins against Maidan after  Maricel Romano and Annie Blouin   worked well and thrashed Aileen Perez and Roma Valdez 15-10, 15-10, Sherwin Felizardo and Maricel brushed aside Joshua Lagran and Aileen 15-12, 15-13, Sherwin and Annie tamed Joshua and Roma 15-10, 15-13 and  Dave Laguio and Maricel overwhelmed Allan Bondoc and Aileen 15-13, 15-9.
Maidan scored through the tandem of Joshua Lagran and Allan Bondoc when they  fought for every point to edge Sherwin Felizardo and Dave Laguio in15-11, 18-19, 15-13  one of the most exciting games that day while Allan Bondoc and Roma Valdez outlasted Dave Laguio and Annie Blouin 19-18, 11-15, 15-11. 
Worley Parsons vs Al Bahar
Worley Parsons generated the same number of  victories after taking 3 matches  against Al Bahar although they were ahead by 11-7 set points as  Forp Alonzo and Norman Abad hammered William Naoe and Ron Margate in 2 easy  sets 15-4, 15-12, Forp and Janette Rimando overwhelmed William and Lala Tan 15-11, 15-12 while one of the matches was won by default.
Al Bahar won  through Lala Tan and Rio Ferrer who edged  Janette Rimando and Dianne Lapason in one of the mouthwatering clashes  that day 16-14, 14-16, 15-11, while William Naoe and Rio outclassed Forp and Dianne 15-9, 11-15, 15-7 and Ron and Lala tamed Norman Abad and Janette 15-10, 15-11.    
Western Union vs Goodyear Tires
Western Union almost completed a landslide victory against Goodyear Tires after  Jon-Jon Torres and Olan Patriarca tamed Bon Elamparo and Mike Florendo 15-11, 16-14, Anne Diaz and Rochelle Baldomero outclassed Arcee Florendo and Melissa Albannay 15-12, 9-15, 15-12, Jon-Jon and Anne thumped Bon and Arcee 15-8, 15-11, Olan and Rochelle brushed aside Mike and Melissa 16-14, 15-8, Jon-Jon and Rochelle hammered Bon and Melissa 15-6, 15-11 while one of the games did not take place.

Western Union won  the same number of matches as  Worley Parsons – three —  although they collected  10 points as  Gay Caedo and Belinda Valdez   outlasted Sang Piscasio and Maggie Haddad 16-18, 15-13, 15-11, Majed Abdul Aziz and Gay brushed aside Allen Miole and Sang 15-10, 15-8 and  Lito Lorempo and Belinda Valdez tamed Cathy Lesaca and Maggie in 2 extended  sets 15-7, 17-15.
Worley Parsons seized points  through Allen and Maggie when they  outclassed Majed and Belinda 13-15, 15-12, 15-12, Cathy and Sang edged Lito and Gay 15-10, 12-15, 15-12 in a seesaw battle while one of their  matches was won by default.
SK Engineering vs Goodyear Tires
SK Engineering accomplished 4-2 wins against Goodyear Tires after  Aldrin Turalde and Roman Malabanan   tamed Jean Blouin and Franklin Montesclaros 15-10, 15-13, Arlene San Mateo and Abi Sedik thumped Cecille Ibon and Glorence Montesclaros in 2 easy  sets 15-10, 15-10, Arldrin and Arlene blended well on the courts and overpowered Jean and Cecille 15-12, 15-11 and Aldrin and Abi were  made to sweat to overcome Jean and Glorence in 2 extended  sets 15-12, 17-15.
Goodyear Tires won  through Franklin and Glorence Montesclaros when they thumped Roman Malabanan and Abi Sedik in   back to back sets 15-11, 15-11 while Franklin and Cecille outlasted Roman Malabanan and Arlene San Mateo 9-15, 15-8, 15-9. 
Al Bahar vs Maidan
Al Bahar pulled off a landslide victory against Maidan team after  Thess Herrera and Lyn-Lyn Mendoza   thrashed Nette Mangahas and Tanette Tuliao 15-6, 15-8, Lanie Gaborno and Thess overwhelmed Ferdie Castro and Nette 15-11, 15-8, Ness and Lyn-Lyn brushed aside Brehn Garcia and Tanette 15-8, 15-9, Lanie and Lyn-Lyn thumped Ferdie and Tanette 15-12, 15-11 and  Ness and Thess outlasted Brehn and Nette 13-15, 15-7, 15-13 while one of the matches was won by default.  
Ladies A / B
Al Bahar vs SK Engineering
Al Bahar acquired 5-1 points against SK Engineering when  Lyn-Lyn Mendoza and Maricel Culangan   overwhelmed Thess Herrera and Lhen Vidal 15-9, 15-7, Sanse Mendoza and Maricel edged Cecille Ibon and Lhen   15-11, 11-15, 15-11, the girl power of Sanse and Lyn-Lyn wasted no effort to thrash Cecille and Thess 15-6, 15-3 and the other two games were won by default.
Meanwhile SK Engineering were saved by the game of Anne Diaz and Thess Herrera when they  overcame Lei Abad and Lyn-Lyn Mendoza 15-11, 19-17.
Goodyear Tires vs Western Union
Goodyear Tires collected  5-1 points against Western Union after  Beng Pastor and Glorence Montesclaros   hammered Jessica Magallanes and Rochelle Baldomero 15-7, 15-6, Abi Sedik and Arlene San Mateo wasted no time to beat Gay Caedo and Angie Rodriguez 15-3, 15-9, Beng  and Abi blended well on the courts and thumped Jessica and Gay in  back to back   sets 15-8, 15-8, Beng and Arlene thumped Jessica and Angie 15-6, 15-13 and Glorence and Abi tamed Rochelle and Gay 15-7, 15-11.
Western Union were  saved further blushes when  Rochelle Baldomero and Angie Rodriguez  outlasted Glorence Montesclaros and Arlene San Mateo 15-10, 11-15, 15-12 in a seesaw battle.
Worley Parsons vs Maidan
Worley Parsons collected 4-2 points against Maidan as  Melissa AlBannay and Ness Aguilar   outclassed Aleli Knight and Lanie Gaborno 15-10, 10-15, 15-9, Cathy Lesaca and Belinda Valdez worked well on the courts and tamed Dhonna Salazar and Nelia Torres 15-12, 15-6, Melissa and Cathy wasted no effort to beat Aleli and Dhonna 15-11, 15-8 and  Ness and Cathy hammered Lanie and Dhonna 15-8, 15-8.
Meanwhile, Maidan scored in two games after  Lanie and Nelia   overwhelmed Ness and Belinda 15-7, 15-12 while Aleli and Nelia thumped Melissa and Belinda 15-7, 15-12.

The unbeaten tandem of Gaurav Joshi and Vince Vidal took  the title in Men’s A & B class when they tamed the good pair of Rommel Carlos and Arjay Lesaca in   back to back sets 21-18, 21-18.  
In the semifinals of the same category Gaurav and Vince stunned Jonathan Munalem and partner in 2 extended  sets 15-11, 16-14 while Rommel and Arjay outlasted Olan Patriarca and Freddie Ocampo 15-12, 11-15, 15-8.
In the earlier games— to complete the elimination round — Rommel and Arjay   overcame Nelson and Jonathan 15-13, 19-17, Gaurav and Vince   dazzled and overwhelmed Tony Osea and Francis Salazar 15-9, 17-15, July Espiritu and Hans Ita-as outclassed Ryan Aguilar and Anthony Valdez 9-15, 15-12, 15-12, while Tony and Francis bounced back and beat Tim Torres and Tony Elamparo 10-15, 15-5, 15-8 whereas Jonathan Munalem and Marlad Aman won  without taking to the courts when Jean Blouin and Eric Pablico failed to show up.  
On the other hand, Alyssa and Nika worked well on the courts and won 3 games when the outlasted Rommel and Arjay 14-16, 15-7, 15-7, hammered Tim and Tony 15-12, 15-8 and won by default against Jean and Eric.July and Hans put on their best shoes to win 2 more games when they edged Tony and Francis in 3 close  sets 12-15, 16-14, 15-13 and then outlasted  Tim and Tony   13-15, 15-12, 15-13, Olan and Freddie did not go home empty handed when they overcame Jean and Eric 19-18, 15-11, Nelson and Jonathan combined  all their energy to edge Olan and Freddie 13-15, 15-13, 15-13, but Olan and Freddie immediately brushed aside Ryan Aguilar and Anthony Valdez 16-14, 15-12 while Gaurav and Vince won  two more games when they first overcame Ryan and Anthony 18-16, 15-7 and then tamed Rommel and Arjay 15-10, 16-14. 
Meanwhile, Frank Montesclaros and Majed Abdul Aziz seized the throne in Men’s C and Ladies A/B category when they thumped Cesar and Imee Castro 21-19, 21-17. 
Earlier in the semifinals of the same class,  Cesar and Imee won by default that took them to  the next level while Franklin and Majed found Roman Malabanan and Raymond Albay an easy prey when they easily beat them   15-6, 15-9. 
Beginners Class
Only 4 pairs composed of Eric Farthing & Claudette Farthing, Bill Smith & Kristine Novino Raymond Albay & Ayem Miole and Joel Pereira & Cindy Fernandez out of 14 tandems managed to qualify  of  the semifinal matches of the Beginners Class being sponsored by Nautilus Fitness Centre.
Earlier in the quarter-finals,   Eric and Claudette fought wisely and outlasted Annie Centeno and Anthony Petrache   15-6, 9-15, 15-9, Bill and Kristine wasted no effort to crush  Jonathan Vidal and Ell Parado 15-3, 15-9, Raymond Albay and Ayem Miole put in their best performance but they were made to sweat for every point to edge Ell Parado and Chris Castilla in a close 3-set match 15-13, 8-15, 15-13, while Joel and Cindy overpowered Dodi El-Din and Mehan El-Din 15-12, 15-10 that took them into   the semis.
On the other hand, there were number of matches   to complete the elimination round and these witnessed Annie Centeno and Anthony Petrache outclass  Joel Pereira and Cindy Fernandez 15-12, 12-15, 15-13, while Ell Parado and Chris Castilla pulled themselves together in the last 2 sets to outlast Mathew Ooman and Grace Mendoza 8-15, 15-8, 15-12, Raymond Albay and Ayem Miole edged Dodi El-Din and Merhan El-Din 15-14, 10-15, 15-11 and  Shirley Iglesias and Ellen Elamparo hammered Rose Galo and Marivic Torio 15-13, 15-2.
Dodi and Merhan bounced back against Anie and Anthony in 2 sets 15-12, 15-8, Joel and Cindy retaliated to win  against Shirley and Ellen 15-12, 15-8, Bill and Kristine blended well on the courts and fought their way to victory when they overcame Revi Sernan and Archie Rocafort in 2 extended  sets   16-14, 17-15 while JD and Melanchie overwhelmed Hammie and Jonathan 16-14, 15-12.
Meanwhile, Eric and Claudette maintained  their best form in two of their games by thrashing Gren Padrones and Lorie Palma 15-4, 15-9 and then edging JD and Melanchie 15-4, 15-17, 15-8, while Mathew and Grace brushed aside Hammie and Jonathan 15-10, 15-12, Bill and Kristine overpowered Gren and Lorie 15-6, 15-10 and Ell and Chris tamed Rose and Marivic 15-10, 15-8.
