MoI ponders raising fine for jumping red signal to KD300 Maid commits suicide

KUWAIT CITY, April 25: The Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs at the Interior Ministry Lt General Mahmoud Al-Dousari was recently quoted as saying the ministry is studying a proposal to raise the fine for jumping the red traffic signal to KD 300, reports Al-Rai daily.
In other news Al-Dousari reiterated expatriates who earn less than KD 400 salary are not entitled to apply for driving license unless they belong to the categories which need not fulfill this condition.
Al-Dousari added the ministry is also studying a proposal to link the validity of the driving license with the validity of residence permit.

Maid kills self: A Nepalese housemaid committed suicide inside her room at the sponsor’s residence in Qasser area. Securitymen and paramedics arrived at the location after the Operations Room was alerted, and Criminal Evidences Men carried the corpse to the Forensics for autopsy.

Police have arrested a Kuwaiti man for setting up a fake company so that he could take advantage of the grant given by the government to hire Kuwaiti workers, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The man then allegedly received part of the allowance offered by the government from each employee.
After police received information about the game played by the citizen, they set a trap for him and caught him red-handed.
According to reports two bedoun who are involved in the scam have also been arrested.

Able ‘disabled’: The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has referred a Kuwaiti man to the Public Prosecution for reporting to be disabled and receiving KD 18,000, reports Al-Rai daily.
The Public Prosecution has ordered the detention of the man to 21 days. Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Department is interrogating six other people for receiving ‘assistance’ from the ministry although they do not deserve it.

Inconvenience for expatsImran Saleh | 4/27/2010 8:09:30 AM Looks like the government by linking the license with the Ekam, is creating one more inconveniences for the expat which would make life more difficult. If the government wants Expats to just move out just create a rule saying every family should have a mandoop to cater to such complicated rules.
