Thieves steal 1 million Iraqi dinars, jewelry worth KD 3,000
KUWAIT CITY, April 23: A citizen wanted for his involvement in 76 thousand dinars financial crime was arrested by securitymen after a two-traffic collision in Hawalli Thursday.
According to a security source, security officers and paramedics rushed to the location when the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry was alerted in that regard.
However, one of the motorists aroused suspicion of police when they noticed he was becoming restless, so they went on to check his identity and found out he was wanted for the crime. He was referred to the concerned authority.
Two drunk youths arrested: Security operatives from Hawalli detained two youths along the Restaurant Street in Salmiya when officers discovered they were high on alcohol.
Sources said the officers spotted the suspects who were misbehaving and acting strange on the road and requested for their identification. It was at that moment they discovered the two youths were highly intoxicated. The officers referred them to the concerned authority without delay.
Husband steals KD 4,800: A Kuwaiti woman filed a case against her Arab husband for allegedly stealing KD 4,800 from her home in Naim area. A case has since been registered against the man.
Pen worth KD 400 stolen: A Kuwaiti citizen told police officers in Qairawan that thieves broke into his home and stole expensive pen worth KD 400, while he was out of the house. The case was registered for investigation.
14 vehicles seized: Securitymen arrested 22 people for reckless driving, impounded 14 vehicles and issued 70 citations on Friday. The Operations Room had received information that a stunt performance was being held at Wafra and that a large number of people assembled there to see the performance, say sources, adding traffic police, rescue officers and securitymen promptly rushed to the place and took action.
A similar performance was held in front of Naseem Cooperative Society in Jahra area and more than 150 youths had gathered to witness the spectacle. Sources say securitymen closed all the entrances and exits to the location and arrested six youths involved in the stunt performance. They also impounded eight vehicles during the campaign.
Police officer assaulted: The Taima police have referred a bedoun youth to the Public Prosecution for humiliating and assaulting a police officer, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
According to a security source a police patrol on duty at the Amghara Scrapyard Thursday night ordered the suspect to pull over on suspicion.
Police did not find anything wrong against the man but the car he was driving had a cracked windshield so police issued a citation against him and left.
The bedoun chased the police and forced them to stop. He then asked the cops why they had issued a citation against him and he attacked them and tore their uniform.
The patrolmen called for backup force and arrested the bedoun.
12 bottles of liquor seized: Police have arrested three people, two of them Kuwaitis and a bedoun, for bootlegging, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to security sources police acting on information put the suspects under surveillance and caught the men red-handed and seized from them 12 bottles of imported booze.
The raid was conducted under instructions from the Assistant Undersecretary for General Security Affairs Major-Genera Khalil Al-Shamali in front of a well-known restaurant in Salmiya.
The men and the booze have been referred to the authorities. On the other hand, the same police Wednesday arrested 15 expatriates for staying in the country illegally and seized two cars wanted by law.
Police have also arrested eight persons wanted by law in connection with various crimes.
Ex-wife gets death threat: A 34-year-old Kuwaiti woman has filed a case with the Rumaithiya police accusing her ex-husband of threatening to kill her. The incident happened on Thursday, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The suspect has been summoned for interrogation.
