Kuwaiti sponsor beats up Asian near his embassy Police bystanders in blatant violation of law

KUWAIT CITY, April 22: In a strange incident an unidentified Asian man was brutally beaten with an iron rod by his Kuwaiti sponsor near the Indian Embassy to the surprise of embassy officials and people who had gone to the embassy to complete their transactions, sources told the Arab Times.
It is said the embassy officials and the people tried in vain to protect the man but could do nothing because of the presence of police. Some people were heard saying it is strange people in this part of the world can take law in their own hands.
This happened when the man was on his way to the embassy to seek protection because he was allegedly maltreated by his employer.
However, before he could make it to the embassy the sponsor accompanied by the cops caught up with the man near the embassy and continued beating him as police stood watching.
To add insult to injury the man was handcuffed and taken to the Dai’ya Police Station and entered into a kind of ‘compromise’, fearing backlash because it has been reported the embassy has taken up the issue with the concerned authorities.

TypicalWalter Rooks | 4/23/2010 3:39:09 PM Unfortunately this type of behavior seems typical in Kuwait. Never! Never! will this be allowed to happen to a U.S. citizen. I am proud to be an American and feel quit sorry for the barbaric attitudes of many people here.
