Kuwaiti, Afghans in fake ‘visa’ business

KUWAIT CITY, April 20: The General Department of Immigration Detectives, headed by Major General Abdullah Al-Rashid, has accomplished another sterling achievement with ability of the officers attached to the Investigation Unit, led by Colonel Najib Al-Shatti, who apprehended a Kuwaiti company owner and two Afghan nationals in possession of fake seals belonging to the Jahra Labor Department.
According to security sources, Major General Al-Rashid received information about actions of the Kuwaiti suspect, who owns a trading company. The man allegedly signed and stamped fake work permits for expatriates, mostly Afghanis for KD 700.
Meanwhile, Major General Al-Rashid directed Colonel Al-Shatti and his assistants to track down the suspect, while officers used one of the Afghani suspects to seek for work permit with KD 700, in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. The aide later disclosed another compatriot was involved in the deal, and the officers caught the Kuwaiti with immigration seals, with which he issued 50 work permits, instead of 15 the government granted his company.
The authorities have since decided to deport all beneficiaries of the deal, while the suspects have been referred for prosecution.
