KUWAIT CITY, April 19: The Forensics expert Monday told the Court of Appeals that she did not find any traces of semen on the corpse of a Kuwaiti woman who was found murdered in a suburb of Mahboula in mid-2009.
The court then adjourned the hearing to May 24, 2010 and summoned the arresting officer to give his testimony and the DNA expert to discuss the circumstances of the incident.
On Dec 21, 2009, the Criminal Court found a Kuwaiti man, identified only as Hamad, guilty of premeditatedly murdering the woman and sentenced him to death.
The court also sentenced him to three years imprisonment for possessing unlicensed arms and ammunition and another six months for resisting arrest. According to a witness report the victim was strangled to death by the accused using her scarf and gold chain.
According to a report issued by the expert the victim’s neck bore injury marks and suffered from internal bleeding (in the neck). She explained the bleeding in the head could be the result of falling on her head after she was strangled.
When police arrested Hamad they found in his possession a Kalashnikov rifle, a hunting gun and three pistols in addition to ammunition.
The session was presided over by Judge Mohamed Bu Slaib.
