KUWAIT CITY, April  19: After over four weeks of exciting  drop shots and smashes  SK Engineering and Construction team retained  the driver’s seat in the  15th Conference of the  Filipino Badminton Association in Ahmadi (FBAA) 4th Goodyear Tires Cup at the Fahaheel Sports Center in Fahaheel, Friday.
FBAA is one of the best badminton organizations in the country  and its tournaments draw some of the top players in the country as all the events are run like a well-oiled machine.
Men’s  A
SK Engineering vs Goodyear Tires
SK Engineering collected 5-1 points against Goodyear Tires when  Joenel Seva and Norman Abad overwhelmed Bon Elamparo and Mike Florendo 15-12, 15-10, Joenel Seva and Gerry Aguilar had a mouthwatering clash to edge Bon Elamparo and Gaurav Joshi in 3 extended  sets 11-15, 15-12, 17-15, Norman Abad and Francis Enriquez blended well on the courts and overpowered Mike Florendo and Jeb Elamparo 15-7, 15-11, Joenel Seva paired with Francis Enriquez wasted no time to beat Elamparo brothers- -Bon and Jeb 15-13, 15-9 while Norman Abad and Gerry Aguilar outlasted  Mike Florendo and Gaurav  Joshi 15-11, 11-15, 15-12  after  a seesaw battle.
Goodyear Tires were saves total embarrassment when  Gaurav Joshi and Jeb “Eagle Eye” Elamparo wasted no sweat to brush aside Gerry Aguilar and Francis Enriquez 15-13, 15-11. 
M.A. Al Bahar vs Western Union
Al Bahar finished on  an equal footing with  Western Union when both got  3 wins and 9 points. Al Bahar,  who their 3rd place  gained victories  through William Naoe and Tony Osea who fought  for every point to outclass  Emil Millanar and Rommel Carlos 15-8, 9-15, 19-17,  while Jon-Jon “Idol” Torres and Tony Osea tamed Sherwin Felizardo and Rommel Carlos 15-8, 15-12 and FBAA President Ronald “Ron” Margate and William Naoe hardly broke any   sweat as they  crushed Allan Bondoc and Emil Millanar 15-8, 15-9.
Western Union team proved that they were not easy opponent although they stayed  at the bottom of  the team standings as they scored through the tandem of Sherwin Felizardo and Allan Bondoc who thumped Jon-Jon and Ron 15-13, 15-9, while Sherwin and  Emil combined their efforts to edge Jon-Jon and William in 3 extended sets 15-12, 4-15, 17-15 and  Allan and Rommel worked  hand in hand to beat Ron and Tony in 2 easy sets 15-9, 15-7. 
Worley Parsons vs Maidan Clinic
Worley Parsons,  who are currently  2nd best in the team event,  gained the same number of 3 wins and 9 points as Maidan Clinic when  Philip Marimla and Anthony Mendoza overcame Joshua Lagran and Ed Antonio 15-13, 16-14, Jong Rimando and Anthony outlasted Dave Laguio and Ed 10-15, 15-12, 15-12 and Jong and Philip brushed  aside Dave and Joshua in a close 2-set play 19-17, 15-12. 
Meanwhile, Maidan Clinic,  who are  3rd from the bottom of the table,  scored through Carlo Bornilla and Dave Laguio who outclassed Forp “Da Flash” Alonzo and Jong Rimando 4-15, 15-11, 15-12, while Carlo and Joshua Lagran overcame Forp and Philip Marimla 16-14, 15-9 and  Carlo and Ed Antonio thrashed Forp and Anthony in back to back sets 15-7, 15-7.
Mixed A
Maidan Clinic vs Goodyear Tires
In Mixed A class,   Maidan group were in their best form when they pulled off a landslide victory against Goodyear Tires starting with  the tandem of Joshua Lagran and Allan Bondoc who overwhelmed Bon Elamparo and Mike Florendo 15-8, 15-12, while Aileen Perez and Roma Valdez tamed Arcee Florendo and Melissa Al Bannay 15-6, 15-10, Joshua and Aileen outlasted Bon and Arcee 15-17, 15-13, 15-10, Allan Bondoc and Roma edged  Mike and Melissa 15-10, 17-15, 15-10. Joshua and Roma brushed aside Bon and Melissa 15-14, 15-12 and  Allan and Aileen thumped Mike and Arcee 15-11, 15-12.
M.A. Al Bahar vs Western Union
Al Bahar collected the same number of 3 wins and 9 points as  Western Union after  Lala Tan and Rio Ferrer   overpowered Anne Diaz and Rochelle Baldomero 15-10, 15-6, Ron Margate and Rio outlasted Olan Patriarca and Rochelle 15-8, 11-15, 15-12 and William Naoe and Rio edged Jon-Jon Torres and Rochelle 15-10, 13-15, 15-13.
Western Union won when  Jon-Jon and Olan tamed William and Ron 15-11, 15-12, Jon-Jon and Anne Diaz outlasted William and Lala 15-7, 9-15, 15-12 and Olan and Anne edged Ron and Lala 11-15, 15-6, 15-10.
SK Engineering vs Worley Parsons
SK Engineering got  3 victories and 9 points was did  Worley Parsons when  Sherwin Felizardo and Maricel Romano   outclassed Forp Alonzo and Janette Rimando 10-15, 15-12, 15-10, Dave Laguio and Annie Blouin overwhelmed Norman Abad and Dianne “Baby Face” Lapason 15-13, 15-9 and  Sherwin and Annie blended well on the courts and brushed  aside Forp and Dianne 15-8, 16-14.
Worley Parsons on the other hand bounced back through   Forp and Norman Abad when they  thumped Sherwin and Dave in   back to back sets 15-13, 15-13, Janette and Dianne were  made to sweat for every point to edge Maricel and Annie 18-16, 14-16, 16-14 while Norman and Janette wasted no time to beat Dave and Maricel 15-3, 17-15. 
Men’s B / Ladies A
M.A. Al Bahar vs SK Engineering
In the Mixed Doubles Men’s and Ladies A, Al Bahar gathered     3 wins as did SK Engineering but they finished with  2 points  more 10-8 when all their  matches finished in 2 sets as  Omi Herrera and Annie Blouin  overpowered Vince Vidal and Hans Ita-as 15-9, 15-10, Arjay Lesaca and Annie overcame Jyotish and Hans 15-11, 17-15 and  Tim Torres and Annie wasted no effort to beat Chris Hernandez and Hans 15-9, 15-10.
SK Engineering won  through Chris Hernandez and Jyotish who brushed aside Tim and Arjay 15-7, 15-11, while Chris and Vince outlasted Tim and Omi 15-17, 15-12, 15-13 and  Jyotish and Vince wasted no time to tame Arjay and Omi 15-6, 15-13. 
Worley Parsons vs Maidan Clinic
Worley Parsons won by  5-1 points against Maidan as  Nelson Pamfilo and Aileen Perez   thumped Roma Valdez and Arcee Florendo in  back to back set 15-13, 15-13, July Espiritu and Nelson overwhelmed Lala and Roma Valdez 15-11, 15-6, Maricel Romano and Aileen outlasted Rio Ferrer and Arcee 7-15, 15-7, 16-14, July and Aileen thrashed Lala and Arcee 15-12, 15-5 and  Maricel and Nelson overpowered Rio and Roma 15-12, 15-9.  
Maidan did not go home empty handed when Lala Tan and Rio Ferrer saved the day after fighting  for every point to edge July Espiritu and Maricel Romano 15-17, 15-7, 17-15.

Western Union vs Maidan Clinic
In Mixed C,   Western Union acquired 5-1 points against Maidan after  Majed Abdul Aziz and Lito Lorempo   beat Ferdie Castro and Brehn 15-11, 15-13, Gay Caedo and Belinda Valdez brushed aside Nette Mangahas and Tanette Tuliao 15-13, 15-9, Majed and Gay hammered Ferdie and Nette 15-2, 15-10, Majed and Belinda thrashed Ferdie and Tanette 15-6, 15-5 and Lito and Gay outlasted Brehn and Nette   15-8, 10-15, 15-10.
Maidan did not go home empty handed when Brehn Garcia and Tanette Tuliao worked well and thumped Lito Lorempo and Belinda Valdez 15-11, 15-10.
SK Engineering vs M.A. Al Bahar
SK Engineering collected  5-1 points against Al Bahar when  Aldrin Turalde and Roman Malabanan   outclassed Lanie Gaborno and Ness Aguilar 10-15, 15-11, 15-9, Arlene San Mateo and Abi Sedik crushed Thess Herrera and Lyn-Lyn Mendoza 15-8, 15-9, Aldrin and Arlene overcame Lanie and Thess 16-14, 15-5, Aldrin and Abi brushed aside Lanie and Lyn-Lyn 15-13, 15-12 and  Roman and Arlene outlasted Ness and Thess 12-15, 15-10, 15-11. 
Al Bahar walked home with a single victory through Ness Aguilar and Lyn-Lyn Mendoza after they  overpowered Roman Malabanan and Abi Sedik 15-11, 15-10.
Goodyear Tires vs Worley Parsons
Goodyear Tires got 4-2 points against Worley Parson as  Jean Blouin and Franklin Montesclaros  edged Allen Miole and Cathy Lesaca 9-15, 15-8, 15-10, Cecille Ibon and Glorence Montesclaros overcame Sang Piscasio and Maggie Haddad 16-14, 15-7, Jean and Cecille brushed aside Allen Miole and Sang Psicasio 15-13, 17-15 and Jean and Glorence wasted no time to beat Allen and Maggie 15-8, 15-11.
Worley Parsons bounced back through Cathy Lesaca and Maggie Haddad as they edged Franklin and Glorence Montesclaros 15-13, 11-15, 15-9  while Cathy Lesaca and Sang Psicasio outlasted Franklin and Cecille   15-13, 13-15, 15-13.
Ladies  A/B
Worley Parsons vs M.A. Al Bahar
In Ladies A and B,  Worley Parsons generated the same number of 9 points and 3 wins as Al Bahar when  Melissa Al Bannay and Ness Aguilar  hammered Lei Abad and Sanse Mendoza 15-10, 15-8, Melissa and Belinda Valdez outclassed Lei and Maricel Culangan 16-14, 6-15, 15-11 and  Ness Aguilar and Cathy Lesaca wasted no time to beat Sanse and Lyn-Lyn 15-11, 15-10.
Al Bahar got their  points when Lyn-Lyn Mendoza and Maricel Culangan   overwhelmed Cathy and Belinda in  back to back sets 15-10, 15-10, Lei and Lyn-Lyn brushed aside Melissa and Cathy 15-11, 15-6 and Sanse and Maricel outclassed Ness and Melissa 15-12, 7-15, 15-9. 
Goodyear Tires vs SK Engineering
Goodyear Tires won  4-2  against SK Engineering as Beng Pastor and Glorence Montesclaros   overcame Anne Diaz and Cecille Ibon 15-6, 15-11, Abi Sedik and Arlene San Mateo outlasted Thess Herrera and Lhen Vidal 12-15, 15-12, 15-12, Beng and Abi hammered Anne and Thess 15-8, 15-10 and  Glorence and Abi thrashed Cecille and Thess in  back to back sets 15-6, 15-6.
SK Engineering scored when  Cecille and Lhen  overpowered Glorence and Arlene 15-9, 15-13 while Anne and Lhen edged Beng and Arlene 11-15, 15-11, 15-10.
Maidan Clinic vs Western Union
Maidan  got  the  same number of points — 9 and 3 wins as did Western Union after  Aleli Knight and Lanie Gaborno   outclassed Jessica Magallanes and Lanie Gaborno 12-15, 17-15, 15-12, Lanie and Nelia Torres overpowered Rochelle Baldomero and Angie Rodriguez 15-8, 15-13 and Aleli and Nelia outclassed Jessica and Angie 15-11, 16-18, 15-8.
Meanwhile, Western Union won  through Gay Caedo and Angie Rodriguez who outlasted Dhonna Salazar and Nelia Torres 4-15, 15-10, 15-13, while Jessica and Gay thumped Aleli and Dhonna 15-10, 15-13 and  Rochelle and Gay outclassed Lanie and Dhonna 15-9, 9-15, 18-16.

Open Doubles
There were limited matches   in the Open Doubles event of Men’s C & Ladies A/B class with the tandem of Beng Pastor and Sanse Mendoza hammering  Lito Lorempo and Aldrin Turalde 15-2, 15-12, while Lito Lorempo and Aldrin Turalde fought for every point to edge Cesar and Imee Castro 8-15, 15-12, 15-13,   Franklin Montesclaros and Majed Abdul Aziz blended well on the courts  for  two victories when they first overcame Neil and Freddie Ocampo in 2 extended   sets 15-6, 16-14 but were  made to sweat to outclass Beng Pastor and Sanse Mendoza 11-15, 15-7, 15-10.
On the other hand in the same class partners Franklin Montesclaros and Majed Abdul Aziz,the  tandem of Roman Malabanan and Raymond Albay along with the pair of Lito Lorempo and Aldrin Turalde won by default against Allen Miole and Dhonna Salazar while one game is pending between Roman Malabanan and Raymond Albay against Beng Pastor and Sanse Mendoza. 
Meanwhile, in the same event of the  Men’s A/B category   Rommel Carlos and Arjay Lesaca wasted no time to overwhelm Tim Torres and Tony Elamparo 15-12, 15-9, the tandem of Nelson Pamfilo and Jonathan Munalem acquired two wins when they first brushed aside Tony Osea and Francis Salazar 15-10, 15-11 and then tamed Ryan Aguilar and Anthony Valdez 15-9, 1510 but Ryan and Anthony bounced back at once and thrashed Jean Blouin and Eric Pablico 15-7, 15-3,  while Gaurav Joshi and Vince Vidal worked hand in hand for  three victories when thumped Tim Torres and Tony Elamparo 15-13, 15-9 and then overwhelmed  July Espiritu and Hans Ita-as 15-12, 15-11 while the last  game was won by default.
The other matches saw that Tony Osea and Francis Salazar   made to sweat for every point to outclass    Olan Patriarca and Freddie Ocampo   15-11, 13-15, 15-13 but Olan and Ferdie proved that they were not  easy opponents and bounced back in the other two matches when they overcame Rommel Carlos and Arjay Lesaca in  2 mouthwatering    sets 19-18, 15-11 and then thumped July Espiritu and Hans Ita-as 15-11, 15-12 while Nelson Pamfilo paired with Marlad Aman brushed  aside Tim Torres and Tony Elamparo 18-16, 15-6.
Various matches saw  opponents fail  to show up, as the tandem of Tony and Francis,   July and Hans along with Ryan and Anthony won by default against Alyssa and Azhar while Rommel and Arjay won against Jean and Eric. 
Beginners
Nautilus Fitness Center,  who sponsored one of the best attended categories — Beginners Cup,  witnessed  Eric and Claudette Farthing continue to lead the class with 9 wins, 2 losses and  27 points ,  but closely on trail with the same number of wins,  losses wand  26 points were Raymond Albay and Ayem Miole followed closely in  3rd place by  Bill Smith and Kristine Novino with the same number of 24 points.
This week’s  matches saw Raymond Albay and Ayem Miole accomplished 3 wins but they were made to sweat to  edge Annie Centeno and Anthony Petrache   15-14, 11-15, 15-19, before they brushed aside Gren Padrones and Lorie Palma 15-7, 15-13 and tamed JD and Melanchie O’mara 15-8, 15-10 while Eric and Claudette Farthing thrashed Rose Galo and Marivic Torio 15-2, 15-9 but they were defeated by the good pair of Dodi and Merhan Eldin in a close 3-set  match 7-15, 15-13, 14-15.
In the other matches,  Hammie Ita-as and Jonathan Vidal fought for every point to edge Gren Padrones and Lorie Palma in 3 extended  sets 13-15, 17-15, 15-12, JD and Melanchie O’mara tamed Ell Parado and Chris Castilla 17-15, 15-13, Grace Mendoza and Mathew Ooman overcame Shirley Iglesias and Ellen Elamparo 15-9, 15-14  and Dodi and Merhan Eldin tamed Bill Smith and Kristine Novino 15-8, 15-14 but Bill and Kristine bounced back against Rose Galo and Marivic Torio to win 15-6, 15-10.
Joel Pereira and Cindy Fernandez outlasted Grace Mendoza and Mathew Ooman 15-10, 12-15, 15-9,  Grace and Mathew did not go home empty handed when they beat Annie Centeno and Anthony Petrache  15-14, 10-15, 15-8 but Annie and Anthony proved that they were not an easy prey and thumped Shirley Iglesias and Ellen Elamparo 15-12, 15-11.  
Meanwhile, Bill Smith and Kristine Novino combined well and brushed aside JD and Melanchie O’mara 15-5, 15-14,the  tandem of Joel Pereira and Cindy Fernandez won two more games when they tamed Gren Padrones and Lorie Palma in   back to back  sets 15-11, 15-11 and then thrashed Marivic Torio and Rose Galo 15-5, 15-2, while Dodi and Merhan Eldin thumped Ell Parado and Chris Castilla 15-13, 15-10, and  Hammie Ita-as and Jonathan Vidal overcame Shirley Iglesias and Ellen Elamparo 15-12, 15-14.
On the other hand, the tandem of Ell Prado and Chris Castilla and the pair of Hammie Ita-as and Jonathan Vidal along with Eric and Claudette Farthing won by default against Revi Servan and Archie Ricafort.
