Young Egyptian woman beaten to death by hubby in family row ‘Visa traffickers behind system crackdown’
KUWAIT CITY, April 18: A 24-year-old Egyptian woman was beaten to death by her 29-year-old husband in Hawalli Saturday.
Sources say the couple had a fight over a family matter before the husband went to work. Then, he apparently called one of his relatives to settle the issue with his wife, but when he returned from work, the couple fought again over the same issue. The husband then physically attacked his wife and beat her on her head and various other parts of the body, causing her fatal injuries. He then rushed her to Mubarak Hospital, but she was declared dead on arrival. Sources say on learning about her death, the man escaped from the hospital.
Hawalli security agents then rushed to the couple’s house and found an 11-month-old baby all alone in the apartment.
However, an hour later, the man surrendered at the Nugra Police Station. A murder case was registered and investigations are going on.
Visa traders blamed: People trading in visas are said to be behind the breakdown of the Automation System at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily quoting sources close to the ministry.
The same sources added an unidentified person who has access to the system and works in Jabriya reportedly cut the link between the Interior Ministry and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor.
The fault was rectified by the ministry engineers. As a result the transactions of 50,000 people were affected.
Police imposters rob Asians: Police are looking for four people for impersonating police and robbing Asian pedestrians in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to security sources many people filed complaints with the police and gave police the car plate number of the vehicle which the thieves are driving.
However, police records show the men were driving a stolen vehicle belonging to a Pakistani man.
Worker beaten, robbed: Police are looking for four masked men for breaking into a petrol station in Doha, beating an Asian worker of the station and stealing his money, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to the victim, the men beat him and stole from him KD 120. The entire theft scene is filmed by the CCTV camera installed by the petrol station.
Police hunt bootleggers: Police are looking for a number of Asians for bootlegging, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to security sources the Ahmadi police patrol spotted some Asians speeding in a car and when they saw the police patrol following them, they pulled over, abandoned the car and escaped.
Police checked the car and found 38 bottles of locally-manufactured booze.
Iranian dies in mishap: An Iranian man died in a traffic accident on the First Ring Road, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The victim died after his car overturned. The remains of the victim have been referred to Forensics.
Man held for breaking seal: Police have arrested a Syrian man for opening his grocery shop in Jahra after it was administratively sealed by the Kuwait Municipality for violating laws, reports Al-Shahed daily. The daily did not give more details.
‘Soccer riots to end’: The Ministry of Interior is determined to put an end to riots during soccer matches, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
According to the daily plainclothes policemen will be put among spectators to root out indiscipline among the spectators.
Youth held doing drugs: Security operatives arrested a 20-year-old youth for consuming drugs near Salwa Cooperative Society.
While on routine duty in the area, the securitymen noticed the suspect’s car parked at a suspicious location, so they approached him for inspection. The suspect was in a cofused state, prompting police to search his vehicle thoroughly. They discovered he was under the influence of drugs and found drug paraphernalia in his car.
A case was registered and he was referred to the authorities for prosecution.
