No govt, Assembly split seen over loans draft bill Joint comment on Blair report sought
KUWAIT CITY, April 17: The loans purchase draft bill, which the government referred back to the National Assembly recently, will not instigate a crisis between the two authorities in the future, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily quoting sources.
Sources affirmed even if a majority in the Parliament - around 33 votes - approve the bill in the next term, it will not lead to conflicts between the legislature and executive as the latter has a number of constitutional options to handle the issue, such as referring the bill to the Constitutional Court.
Sources said the government has again started modifying the Fund for the Needy to increase the number of beneficiaries and stabilize the financial condition of many citizens.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet has asked ministries and government authorities to coordinate while giving their comments on the report ‘Kuwait Vision 2035,’ submitted by former British prime minister Tony Blair, in order to send a uniform message through the media, reports Awan daily.
Blair’s report included analysis of the current challenges and recommendations which can help Kuwait regain its pioneering role in the region. It also mentions risks which may threaten Kuwaiti society if positive changes are not made.
The Cabinet gave a brief summary of Blair’s report to ministries and government authorities on a website to discuss ideas and recommendations mentioned in the report.
The Cabinet also invited citizens to comment on the report at comments@kuwaitvision2035.gov.kw and indicated that Blair will meet interested candidates and will reply to their queries in this regard.
