KUWAIT CITY, April 16: A number of lawmakers extended support to school teachers and spoke on the importance of providing protection to teachers and including the profession in the ‘tough jobs’ category during a seminar organized by Kuwait Teachers Society (KTS) recently, reports Al-Anba daily.
Some lawmakers even stressed on treating school teachers at par with those of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET).
During the opening speech, Chairman of the society Ayed Al-Sahli said teachers play an indispensable role in the development of education and the society in general. Referring to the proposal on extending school hours, he said “teachers would have been the first to vote for it, if it could benefit the educational process.”
Speaking on the occasion, MP Mohammad Al-Huwaila said the demands of teachers are reasonable and that the National Assembly will adopt them.
Stressing that teachers represent the most important category, MP Dr Faisal Al-Muslim said “unfortunately, the government does not do enough for this category.” His colleague MP Khaled Al-Adwah agreed with him, saying the government and politicians are not concerned about teachers and the educational process.
