Kuwaiti Woman molested Ministry foils bid to smuggle big quantity of liquor; 2 held
KUWAIT CITY April 15, (KUNA): The Ministry of Interior successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 4,000 bottles of liquor worth KD 200,000 into the country.
In a press release issued on Thursday, the Interior Ministry said that based on a tip-off to the General Department for Combating Drugs that two individuals - a non-Kuwaiti and a Gulf national - were smuggling alcohol into the country.
Accordingly, the department’s personnel conducted the necessary investigations and verified the accuracy of this information.
The alcohol was being shipped in seven large containers through Shuwaikh Port, and the department, in cooperation with the General Customs Department’s Investigation Bureau, took action to arrest the two smugglers.
It explained that the alcohol bottles had been concealed in pipes, inserted into the iron coating of the containers.
Woman molested: A Kuwaiti woman has filed a complaint with the Jahra police accusing a male compatriot of attempting to molest her, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
This happened when the victim was shopping with her friends inside a commercial complex in Jahra.
In her complaint, the woman said the suspect followed her wherever she went and tried in vain to hand over his cellphone number. She added, when she refused to take the number and insulted him, he tried to molest her and escaped from the scene after making immoral gestures.
1,256 for Amiri pardon: As many as 1,256 male and female prisoners have been included in the list of the Amiri Pardon Committee which comprises of representatives from the ministries of Interior and Defense, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The committee is guided by the spirit of law, said a source, adding most pardoned prisoners are those who don’t affect other’s interests.
The list includes prisoners of all nationalities, including Bedouns who have first or second degree Kuwaiti relatives. Also, deportation sentence has been lifted from 146 Bedouns and expatriates and fines worth 1.31 million have been waived off, noted the source.
