National unity being hurt by domestic events: govt Cabinet OKs senior staff
KUWAIT CITY, April 13, (KUNA): The Kuwaiti government has expressed dismay at domestic developments, particulary those raised by the media, that undermine national unity.
The government, in a meeting chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Monday night, called on people in general and media in specific to safeguarding national unity and to focus on development and prosperity of Kuwait, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Roudhan Al-Roudhan said in a statement.
The Cabinet urged everybody and media to refrain from undermining national unity and to work on unity of ranks to ultimately serve development and prosperity in Kuwait, he said.
The Cabinet, meanwhile, named Minister of Communications and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Dr Mohammad Al-Busairi as government spokesman.
The Cabinet members also took note of the tour of Sheikh Nasser coming to France, the UK, Poland and Slovenia.
The delegation accompanying Sheikh Nasser will consist of Advisor at His Highness the Amir’s Office Abdulrahman Salem Al-Atiqi, Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Advisor at the Prime Minister’s Diwan Faisal Al-Hajji Bukhadhour, Minister of Finance Mustafa Al-Shimali, Minister of Commerce and Industry Ahmad Al-Haroun and businessmen.
The Cabinet, he added, welcomed the visit of Maltese Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi to Kuwait which aimed at boosting bilateral relations and cooperation.
The government approved draft decrees on technical and economic agreement with Greece, electricity cooperation agreement with Egypt and exchanging workforce with Combodia, noted Al-Roudhan.
The Cabinet also approved draft agreements on encouraging and protection of joint investments with Guyana and Senegal, an agreement on preventing dual taxation and preventing evasion of income and capital tax with Slovenia.
The draft decrees were referred to His Highness the Amir.
The Cabinet, on the other hand, expressed deepest condolences for the airplane crash which resulted in the death of Polish president Lech Kaczynski, his wife and large number of officials.
Kuwait’s Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Dr Fadhel Safar said that the Cabinet approved during its weekly session on Monday a draft decree on appointing five deputies of Kuwait’s Municipality Director General.
Safar told KUNA the Cabinet approved appointment of Walid Khalifa Al-Jassim, Mohammed Ghazai Al-Otaibi, Faisal Sadeq Khalaf, Ahmad Abdullah Al-Manfouhi, and Abdullah Assad Emadi. They will all have the rank of assistant undersecretaries.
The minister said the Cabinet also approved a draft decree appointing Yousif Al-Saqubi as the Assistant Secretary General in the Municipal Council.
Safar added the Cabinet also approved a draft decree on appointing Mohammad Abdullah bin Nekhi as Assistant Undersecretary in the ministry of Public Works.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Roudhan Al-Roudhan said the Cabinet approved a draft decree appointing Sheikha Huda Bader Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah as Director General of the Social Development Office (SDO).
Al-Roudhan told KUNA after the weekly session that the council also approved a draft decree appointing Khalid Al-Turkait as Deputy Director of the general fire service Department.
