Panel, MoI to probe dual citizenship Assembly to discuss soaring prices of nutritional products

KUWAIT CITY, April 13: The National Assembly has instructed the Interior and Defense Committee to probe the dual citizenship issue in cooperation of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) upon the request of Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Khalid Al-Sabah.
Speaking during Tuesday’s session, Sheikh Al-Khalid pointed out, “dual citizenship is a very sensitive issue. We usually take measures in accordance with Article 11 of the Citizenship Law. I prefer to discuss this issue with the committee away from the media.”
Meanwhile, the National Assembly scheduled a session on May 11 to discuss the soaring prices of nutritional products, as well as the steps taken by the government to curb the rising prices of these items.
The Parliament also agreed to discuss a draft bill on the civil and social rights of women on April 30, while the lawmakers asked the Audit Bureau to look into the alleged financial and administrative violations committed by the Ministry of Information and irregularities in the Jaber Stadium project.
Also, the legislature decided to refer the issue on HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah’s failure to respond to the queries of lawmakers to the Legislative Affairs Committee.
After finalizing discussions on the Amiri Speech, which included plans of the Cabinet in the coming months and read by Sheikh Nasser during the inauguration of the current legislative round, the National Assembly forwarded its remarks to HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah.
The National Assembly also asked the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee to submit a comprehensive report on the proposals related to Kuwait Chamber of Industry and Commerce (KCCI) on April 25 for discussion.
