Ten killed in 3 months as report sees hike in drug-related deaths
KUWAIT CITY, April 13: Ten people - aged 31 to 40 years - died during the first quarter of this year due to consumption of drugs, according to the latest statistical report from the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
In a press statement Tuesday, the ministry admitted the number of drug-related deaths has increased over the last few years, especially among the youths, despite the concerted efforts of the concerned authorities to raise public awareness on the negative effects of drugs.
The ministry appealed to the public to cooperate with the authorities in curbing this phenomenon to protect the youths and discourage them from hanging out with friends engaged in such activities.
The ministry also affirmed the strong coordination between anti-narcotics officers and policemen to eliminate this social menace.
Kuwaiti found dead: A 54-year-old Kuwaiti man was found dead inside a vehicle in Farwaniya Monday.
Paramedics and securitymen rushed to the location after receiving a call about a man found unconscious inside a car parked at an undisclosed location in the governorate. However, when the paramedics checked his condition he was already dead. His remains were referred to Forensics, while a team from the Criminal Investigations Department lifted fingerprints as the authorities suspected foul play.
The Forensics report later revealed the man died of natural causes.
Meanwhile, a Pakistani was found dead near a restaurant in Abu Halifa recently.
Securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location after receiving a distress call on the incident. They referred the victim’s remains to Forensics and started investigations to determine the actual cause of death.
Shepherd commits suicide: An Indian shepherd committed suicide by hanging inside the tent of his sponsor in Salmi Monday.
Security sources revealed the Indian’s sponsor was surprised when he entered the tent as he found the lifeless body of the shepherd. He immediately called police who arrived at the scene and conducted preliminary investigations. The Indian’s remains were referred to Forensics.
A case was registered and investigations are still ongoing to identify the actual circumstances that prompted the Indians shepherd to end his own life.
