‘Situation worsens due to poor functioning of govt, parliament’ Security officers prevent MP from entering port
KUWAIT CITY, April 10: The situation in Kuwait has continued to deteriorate due to the poor performance of the government and Parliament, reports Al-Rai daily quoting some young members of various political groups in the country.
In an interview with Al-Rai TV Thursday, the youths emphasized the need to set priorities and rearrange the political agenda in the interest of the nation.
Chairperson of Political Relations Committee at the National Islamic Alliance (NIA) Abdulsamad Adnan Abdulsamad compared the frequent grilling to the extensive use of antibiotics, so the government is now immuned to this procedure. “The performance of the National Assembly is disappointing,” he lamented, asserting that the government and lawmakers have not realized the dreams of the public.
Women’s Committee representative from the Justice and Peace Group Attorney Zahraa Abdulhussain Al-Sultan argued the numerous inquests have done nothing but to paralyze the political process.
Expressing her satisfaction over the performance of the group’s representative in the Parliament - Saleh Ashour, Abdulhussain argued the poor performance of the government has negatively affected that of its legislative counterpart. She added the group is coordinating with non-members like MPs Maasouma Al-Mubarak and Rola Dashti.
Meanwhile, security officers have allegedly prevented MP Saleh Al-Mullah from entering Al-Shuaiba Port, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting sources.
Sources said the lawmaker visited the port in response to the invitation of the Workers Union but the security officers denied him entry, asserting only authorized persons are allowed to enter the port. Sources explained Al-Mullah told the officers that he has right to enter the port as elected representative of the people but his efforts went in vain, so he had no option but to leave.
In another development, MP Mikhled Al-Azmi has asked the Ministry of Communications to waive-off the landline telephone bills of residents in Bayan, Mishref and Salwa during the period when the service was disconnected due to ongoing maintenance and construction works in the surrounding areas, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
