Doctors, nurses to receive increments by May – MoH 16,000 persons to benefit

KUWAIT CITY, April 9: The Ministry of Health recently announced the retroactive payment of the new salary scale to expatriate doctors from January to April, will be made soon reports Al-Nahar daily.
The Civil Service Commission (CSC) approved the new increment at the end of the previous year, which specified extra allowances between KD 170 and KD 930 will be paid to expatriate doctors. Consequently, their new salaries range from KD 825 to KD 2,475.
Meanwhile, dentists will get between KD 175 and KD 790 extra allowances, while their new salaries start from KD 795 to KD 2,105.
‘Doctors and nurses will receive their increments by May this year,’ Undersecretary at the Ministry of Health Dr Ibrahim Al-Abdulhadi told Al-Anba daily.
He said the main reason for the delay was the large number of beneficiaries and added that 11,000 nurses and 5,000 doctors will receive increments and each one of them has a separate file.
Furthermore, Undersecre-tary for Financial Affairs Abdul Fattah Al-Asmawi said KD 5 million has been allocated for ‘excellent performance’ allowance, but it will be paid after receiving approval from the Ministry of Finance.
Meanwhile, a number of Kuwaiti nurses have gathered at the Ministry of Health (MoH) to demand cancellation of their new pay scale, which was approved by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) recently, as this decision requires them to return allowances amounting to more than a thousand Kuwaiti dinars, reports Annahar daily quoting sources.
According to the nurses, the CSC decision includes an item requiring them to return allowances paid to them earlier.  The undersecretary then promised to ask the CSC to cancel the item and continue with the payment of the new salary scale.
In another development, the Ministry of Health approved the Professional Ethics Committee’s request to conduct catheter operations on patients suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS).
Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs and Head of Permanent Committee for Coordinating Medical and Health Research Dr Yousef Al-Nisf said the ministry approved the research presented by Dr Tareq Sanan.
