Truckloads of subsidised items ready for smuggling out seized

KUWAIT CITY, April 7: A team from the Kuwait Municipality seized three truckloads of government subsidized goods. The items were ready to be smuggled out of the country.
Leader of the team and the Assistant Public Supervisor at the Municipality Sultan Al-Jabri said the campaign was initiated following an instruction from Manager of the Cleaning Department Dr Saad Al-Jallawi, in coordination with the Supervisor of Jleeb Municipal Department Tharae Al-Mutairi, to seize government subsidized goods, which are being sold in the black market, and ensure the safety of consumers.
He indicated the seized items include 23 boxes of Dalal cooking oil, 13 boxes of assorted cooking oil, and 31 cartons of large skimmed powdered milk. It also comprises 12 cartons of KDD milk, 18 bags of rice, 12 bags of lentil, 13 bags of sugar, and 14 boxes of toothpaste, in addition to furniture and a large quantity of electrical appliances.
He noted the Municipality will pursue legal action against perpetrators to end the phenomenon, while it will intensify inspection and monitor the illegal trade.

Youth knifed in fight: Three Kuwaiti youths in their 20s sustained injuries during a scuffle involving seven individuals in Kabad Tuesday. The youths resorted to sharp objects, and firing shots into the sky, says Al-Seyassah.
Acting on information received by the Operations Room, rescue officers promptly arrived at the scene and rushed the injured youths to Farwaniya Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the other members of the feuding party fled the scene immediately they sighted the officers. Police have since registered the case, and investigation is on to determine the cause of the frightening episode.

Bangladeshi kills self: A 32-year-old Bangladeshi worker allegedly ended his life by hanging himself to a tree in Abu Halifa, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The corpse of the victim has been referred to Forensics. Police are investigating the incident.
