Section head busted in visa trade - KD 1,200 for visit to work permit Canine mauls maid

KUWAIT CITY, April 7: Officers from the Immigration General Department arrested the Section Head of Jahra Immigration Department, who aided a GCC national owning a bogus company and his Egyptian representative in visa trafficking.
The suspects reportedly transferred visit visa to work permit for KD 1200, and they completed 54 transactions in one month, with the help of the immigration officer.
According to sources, the Director General of Immigration Security got wind of activities of the section head, and a team of detectives was formed to bring him to justice, while an undercover agent reached a deal with the Egyptian representative to transfer his visit visa to work permit, and he was arrested.
The Egyptian named his accomplice as the GCC national. The GCC national also confessed the immigration officer was his partner in crime, and added the officer charged KD 500 for each application he submitted. The three suspects have since been referred to the Public Prosecution.

Canine mauls maid: A Filipino housemaid who was attacked by a pet dog of a Kuwaiti man has been admitted to the Mubarak Al-Kabir Hospital, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
It has been reported the dog was let out by the owner and when the maid was passing in front of the house, the canine attacked her.
When one of the family members intervened, the dog let go the maid but not before causing her serious injuries.
