KUWAIT CITY, March 30: SK Engineering & Construction proved their class when they outwitted their rivals to stay on top of the standings in the 15th Conference of the Filipino Badminton Association in Ahmadi (FBAA) 4th Goodyear Tires Cup at the Fahaheel Sports Center in Fahaheel, Friday.
The tournament is being organized by FBAA, one of the best badminton organizations in the country, under the guidance of the FBAA President Ronald Margate and his group of office-bearers.
The tournament, which like all the previous such events, is being run very smoothly, is being held for the following categories: Men’s A, Men’s B/Ladies A, Ladies A/B, Mixed C, Open Doubles and Beginners Cup.
Like in the previous week, which saw the opening of the event, the crowd was treated to some very exciting matches with all the competitors playing their hearts out.
Men’s A
SK Engineering & Construction vs M.A. Al-Bahar
SK Engineering & Construction took the honors when they collected 4-2 points against M.A. Al-Bahar when Joenel Seva and Norman Abad outclassed Jon-Jon Torres and Ron Margate (upgrade) 10-15, 15-11, 15-5, Joenel Seva and Gerry Aguilar outlasted Jon-Jon Torres and William Naoe outlasted 15-13, 10-15, 15-6, Norman Abad and Gerry Aguilar edged Tony Osea and William Naoe 10-15, 15-13, 15-13 and one of the matches was won by default.
M.A. Al-Bahar gathered points when Jon-Jon Torres and Tony Osea wasted no time to beat Joenel Seva and Gerry Aguilar (upgrade) in 2 easy sets 15-12, 15-9.
Worley Parsons vs Goodyear Tires
Worley Parsons almost collected a landslide victory against Goodyear Tires when they won by 4-1 points but not before Forp Alonzo and Philip Marimla (upgrade) were made to sweat for every point to edge Bon Elamparo and Mike Florendo 13-15, 15-12, 15-12, while Forp Alonzo and Philip Marimla fought for every point to outclass Bon Elamparo and Gaurav Joshi 16-14, 10-15, 15-12, Philip Marimla and Anthony Mendoza wasted no effort to thrash Mike Florendo and Jeb Elamparo 15-8, 15-4, and Forp Alonzo and Anthony Mendoza combined their efforts in the last 2 sets to beat Bon Elamparo and Jeb Elamparo 11-15, 15-9, 15-9. Goodyear Tires got their only point from a single game won by default.
Maidan Clinic vs Western Union
Maidan Clinic nearly accomplished a total victory against Western Union as they won by 4-1 points as Joshua Lagran and Ed Antonio outlasted Emil Millanar and Rommel Carlos 15-9, 11-15, 15-12, in a seesaw battle, Carlo Bornilla and Joshua Lagran edged Sherwin Felizardo and Emil Millanar 15-12, 13-15, 15-13, Dave Laguio and Ed Antonio blended well on the courts to outclass Allan Bondoc and Rommel Carlos 11-15, 15-12, 15-12 and the tandem of Carlo Bornilla and Ed Antonio outlasted Sherwin Felizardo and Rommel Carlos 15-8, 13-15, 15-13.
Western Union did not go home empty handed as Allan Bondoc and Emil Millanar brushed aside Dave Laguio and Joshua Lagran in back to back sets 15-11, 15-11.
