Customs foils bid to smuggle fake ‘Black Berry’ for officer

KUWAIT CITY, March 28:  A young handicapped man was found dead near Qairawan Police Station recently.
After noticing a young handicapped man lying unconscious on the ground close to the station, police officers called paramedics but the young man is already dead when the rescuers arrived at the location.  Initial investigations revealed he died 24 hours ago.  His remains were referred to Forensics to determine the actual cause of death.
Security sources unveiled plans to summon members of the young man’s family for interrogation, since he is a handicapped who needed proper care.

Smuggling bid foiled: Cust-oms officers at the Kuwait International Airport recently foiled an attempt to smuggle 150 counterfeit ‘Black Berry’ cell phones which were sent to a police officer by an unidentified person from the UAE, reports Al-Jareedah daily.
A case of attempting to smuggle goods without paying the customs duty has been filed against the unidentified police officer.


Drug overdose
: A Kuwaiti man allegedly died from an overdose of drugs, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
According to security sources the partly decomposed remains of the man have been referred to Forensics after neighbors complained to the authorities about the bad odor coming from his apartment.
When paramedics and police rushed to the apartment and forced open the door they found next to the corpse drug consuming tools.

‘Scope’ 3 freed : The Criminal Court Sunday acquitted three officials working for the Scope Satellite Channel TV channel.
The Public Prosecution had charged Fajer Othman Al-Saeed, her brother Talal and Farraj Khalafallah with criticizing Kuwaiti Cabinet ministers during a TV program ‘Your Voice is Here’ during the month of Ramadan.
The program included some scenes portraying actors as ministers in a sarcastic manner.
The ministers said this behavior was derogatory of their character.
The session was presided by Judge Mohammed Al-Khalaf.
Meanwhile, in another case, the Criminal Court Sunday acquitted the renowned writer and lawyer Mohamed Abdul Qader Al-Jassem and the editor-in-chief of an Arabic daily paper in a case filed against him by HH the Prime Minister.
In the lawsuit the Prime Minister had accused Al-Jassem of writing a derogatory article against him on Aug 19, 2009.
The session was presided over by Judge Mohammed Al-Khalaf.
