Official warns against rumors that create ‘chaos’ in society Action is tantamount to waging psycho war
KUWAIT CITY, March 26: Manager of Media Security Department and Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) Colonel Mohamed Hashim Al-Sabr has warned against rumors that create chaos in the Kuwaiti society.
In a press statement Thursday at the Training and Certified Media Investigation Procedures in Dubai, Al-Sabr pointed out spreading such rumors is tantamount to waging a psychological war, which deeply affects the values, customs, principles, unity and identity of the people. He said hearsay is a dangerous weapon and people should unite to eliminate such a negative phenomenon. He alleged the rumor-mongers are trying to divert the attention of the people to something that do not benefit the nation and destabilizes national security.
Al-Sabr asserted psychiatrists say people who spread rumors are either psychopaths or work for personal interests. He called for cooperation between the security authorities and journalists, affirming his department is keen on building trust between the security officers and residents. He confirmed the ministry is willing to listen to all the remarks and reports of the citizens and expatriates. He appealed to the public to stand strongly against rumors that threaten national security.
