Residence transfer after Termination
Currently I am working with a local company as Electrical Design Draftsman (Diploma). Two years ago I had got a release and transferred my residence from a local company to my current sponsor on 28/8/2007 for a period of two years. At the time of renewal of residence my current firm started getting their own company visa and they transferred my residence on 21/06/2009.
The company terminated me from service as there was no manpower requirement for future projects. I have a 3-month notice period from 15/03/2010 to 10/06/2010. I asked the company to give me release or transfer. At the end I was denied and told that the company would not provide a release. I am curious to know the reason why? Could you please guide me if I am eligible for release or transfer of my visa.

Answer: If a company terminates you it has to give you a release because you can then easily do a local transfer.
Once a firm terminates you it has no right to hold back a release. You should approach the Labour Dept in your area. Please also remember that if you are terminated, the company has to give you one full day every week or 8 hours, with pay, to search for a new job — according to Article 44 of the new Labour Law.
