Asian with ‘wasta’ held selling visas to Indians at KD400 each
KUWAIT CITY, March 23: Secu-ritymen arrested an Asian expatriate for trading in residence permits in connivance with some Kuwaiti sponsors. The suspect reportedly charged KD 400 per permit he arranged for Indian expatriates.
Undercover agents persuaded the suspect to arrange for a domestic worker visa and arrested him during the deal. The suspect had in his possession three Indian passports with Article 20 stamps and reportedly he was arranging for a transfer to another sponsor.
Also, the Asian was overstaying in the country, was not working for his sponsor and had black magic tools with him. Securitymen came to know that he was even cheating the Kuwaiti sponsors with whose connivance he was getting the visas.
Steps are being taken to deport the Asian, states a press release issued by the Ministry of Interior.
Cats, dogs burn in fire: A fire eng-ulfed 1,500 square/meter area of a farm where stray animals are kept in Wafra, killing 28 cats and 8 dogs. However, firefighters managed to rescue 100 animals.
The officers were prompt to the location, following a report the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry received about the incident, and they successfully extinguished the fire in a record time, without any human casualty. Meanwhile, investigation is in progress to determine the cause of the fire.
Ex-con in drug trafficking: A Kuw-aiti citizen, who was released from prison in the last 60 days, after serving in jail for a drug related offense, was apprehended for trafficking in drugs.
Based on a tip-off received by the Director General of Anti-Drugs General Department Brigadier Ahmad Al-Khalifa about activities of the suspect, a team of detectives was mobilized to trail him, whereby an undercover agent sealed a deal to purchase a finger of hashish for KD 100. He was arrested during delivery of the drug in Ferdous area and confessed to trading in narcotics, although he claimed he never met the man who supplied him drugs. The citizen led security officers to his residence in Andalous area, where an unspecified quantity of the contraband was found.
In another development, security officers nabbed an unemployed Arab national who sold 200 narcotic pills to a security officer in West Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. An additional 500 pills were found on him after a careful search. He was referred to the concerned authority for necessary action.
Tragedy on Ghazali Road: A bedoun man died in a traffic accident off the Ghazali Road. He was allegedly run over by a speeding motorist, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to a relative the victim was transporting passengers in his vehicle and when police impounded his vehicle for violating a traffic law, he was crossing the road when the mishap happened.
He allegedly died on the spot. No other details are given.
