Gang stealing costly watches, jewellery cellphones busted Huge material loss in apartment fire
KUWAIT CITY, March 19: An Afghan national in his 50s was found dead at an under-construction building in Abdullah Mubarak.
Securitymen and paramedics were dispatched to the scene following a report the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry received about a man found unconscious at the said location. Upon arrival, paramedics examined the body and confirmed the man had already died. Criminal Evidences Men carried the corpse to the Forensics to determine the time and cause of death. The case has been registered.
Police bust 3-man gang: Police have arrested a three-man gang — a Kuwaiti, an Iraqi and a Syrian — who specialized in stealing expensive watches, ready-made garments, cell phones and jewelry from shops in commercial malls, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to reports the Kuwaiti and the Iraqi have a history of criminal record.
The daily quoting security sources said police acting on information put the area under surveillance and caught the suspect at 3:00 am. It has been reported when police ordered the man behind the wheel to pull over he refused and stepped on the gas pedal. Police chased the suspects for over half an hour and arrested them.
During interrogation the thieves admitted to the charge and said they entered the mall at a late hour and after everyone had left they broke into the shops and escaped from the mall with the loot by breaking one of the entrances.
Police have allegedly seized from the men a number of expensive cell phones and other stolen goods in addition to tools they used to open the shops.
They said so far they had robbed 35 shops in various governorates. They added they mainly targeted shops selling expensive ready-made garments and watches, cell phones, jewelry and travel and tours offices.
2 citizens rescued at sea: Two Kuwaitis in their 30s were rescued by the Marine Team from Shuwaikh after the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry received information about a boat, which had almost sunk in Al-Heshan sea area.
Sources said the boat was filled with water when the team arrived, but they managed to rescue the occupants without any injuries.
Director of the Marine Fire Department Colonel Khalid Al-Mekrad commended the rescue team for the efforts it exerted to save the two citizens, and went on to advice individuals who go to sea to take the necessary requirements, in case of any emergency.
Pakistani mugged, KD 270 stolen: A Pakistani expatriate in his 30s was cheated by one Arab national posing as a police officer in Mahboula area, who made away with KD 270 cash.
The victim told police that the man approached him inside his vehicle and showed identification as a police officer, and then requested him to come out from the car, which he did.
According to security sources, the suspect alleged the complainant was wanted for a certain criminal offense and took his wallet, whereas the suspect ordered him to move away for a while, and before he knew it, the suspect escaped with his wallet, which contained KD 270 and bank cards. The case has been registered for investigation to arrest the man disguising as police.
3 men assault Bedoun: A Bedoun man reported to police officers in Hasawi that three men in national attire assaulted him and took his mobile phone by force, while he was walking by the main road.
He narrated the men alighted from a vehicle, and approached him, and then he was instructed to hand over his mobile phone. The man added the thieves started beating him when he refused to give out the wallet. They finally succeeded in snatching his mobile phone and fled the scene. The man provided police with the description of the suspects’ car, and the case was registered for investigation.
Boat worth KD 3,400 stolen: A Kuwaiti citizen in his 50s told officers in Hadiya police station about thieves who stole his boat which was parked in front of his home. The man said he was astonished when he discovered the boat was missing, and added the boat was worth KD 3,400.
Meanwhile, Criminal Evidences Men went to the location and examined the crime scene, while fingerprints were lifted to trail the suspects. A case has since been registered.

Acting on information received by the Operations Room about the episode, firefighters, accompanied by securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location to assist the situation, while firemen successfully controlled the blaze without it extending to neighboring structures.
Initial investigation revealed the fire was triggered by an electric short circuit. The case was registered for investigation.
