Army officer held for drunk driving, crossing ‘red’ signal Police arrest reckless motorist

KUWAIT CITY, March 19: An army officer who has four cases registered against him including driving under the influence of alcohol and crossing the red traffic light has been referred to the military police, reports Alam Alyawm.
According to a security sources, the officer was arrested by the Mubarak Al-Kabir police for crossing the red-traffic light in Sabah Al-Salem. When he refused to pull over, he was chased and arrested.
When the officer was to show out his identity card because he had crossed the red traffic light, the officer objected and said he works for the Defense Ministry.
When police tried to arrest him, he reportedly assaulted the patrolmen and verbally abused them. A backup force was called and the man was arrested and taken to a police station.
Four cases have been registered against the officer at the Sabah Al-Salem Police Station humiliating and assaulting police on duty, driving under the influence of alcohol and crossing the red traffic light.
Meanwhile, the Sulaibikhat police Thursday arrested an unidentified Kuwaiti youth for reckless driving and putting the lives of other motorists and pedestrians in danger, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
According to reports at the time of the arrest the youth was under the influence of alcohol.
The motorist has been referred to a police station.
