Visa 18 beggar becomes rich in 40-year Kuwait stay

Kuwait City, 18 Mar: Securi-tymen arrested an expatriate for begging in Souk Al-Mubarakiya in Salhiya area and seized his earnings - a grand total of KD 8,900, states the Interior Ministry in a press release.
The ‘rich’ beggar was holding Article 18 visa and was on the sponsorship of a restaurant.
He has been staying in the country since the last 40 years.

Asian run over, killed: An unidentified Asian man died on the spot in front of the KUNA building on the Jamal AbdulNasser Road, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to reports the victim was crossing the road and he was hit by the speeding motorist.
However, at a police station the motorist claimed the victim appeared from ‘nowhere’ and that he could not avoid hitting him.
A case has been registered at a police station.

Wanted man arrested: Police have arr-sted an unidentified Kuwaiti man, allegedly wanted by law in connection with a kidnapping case, reports Al-Dar daily.
According to reports the man was involved in a two-vehicle collision and when police rushed to the spot to investigate they found the one of the motorist was wanted by law.
When police asked the man to get into the police vehicle, he refused and tried in vain to resist arrest.
He has been detained at the Rumaithiya Police Station. He is charged with resisting arrest in addition to the kidnapping charge.

Using taxis to evade police: The Hawalli police have arrested an unidentified Kuwaiti man for failing to pay a KD 29,000 loan to an unidentified bank, reports Al-Dar daily.
According to reports the man was caught while riding in a taxi. Sources say the man was moving around the city in taxis to avoid arrest.
However, he was arrested on suspicion at an unidentified location and when police checked his name in computer they discovered he was wanted by law.
He has been referred to the Sentences Enforcement Department.

40 held in vice raid: During a raid on suspect apartments in Hawalli police are said to have arrested 40 people, including prostitutes, pimps and flesh pleasure seekers and referred them to the authorities, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily quoting security sources said police acting on information put the apartments under surveillance and armed with a search and arrest warrant issued by the Public Prosecution raided the places and caught some of the suspects in the act.

Evening-schoolers harassed: Securitymen arrested 18 youths for harassing and molesting women attending evening schools, reports Al-Shahid daily.
 The youths were referred to authorities and their cars were impounded.
