Aged owner denies as company found trafficking in forged visas
KUWAIT CITY, March 18: Acting on information personnel from the General Immigration Investigation Department raided a company premises and seized 212 forged work permits in the name of male and female employees, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The daily quoting security sources the team tasked by the department to check the company file discovered 212 work permits had been issued in the name of the company but none of them worked for the company.
Further investigations revealed the company was trading in visas and that each visa was being sold for between KD 500 and KD 1,200.
When police summoned the 73-year-old owner of the company he denied knowledge of forged work permits. He also denied signing any papers.
Police investigations are continuing.
Promises of riches: The Hawalli police have arrested an unidentified Egyptian man for duping compatriots and other expatriates to the tune of KD 30,000, reports Al-Qabas daily.
According to reports the man claimed he had connections with people in the Kuwait Stock Exchange and promised to invest their money.
However, after taking money the man vanished and refused to answer his phone.
It has also been reported the man specialized in stealing cars. He frequented cafés and made friends with people and offered to buy their cars. Then he would ask for a trial and then drive off.
According to sources the man was arrested inside one of the commercial malls in Salmiya.
During interrogation he is said to have admitted to committing 37 crimes. He has been referred to the Public Prosecution.
