Four trucks of subsidized milk impounded at border Domestic helper in drug peddling
The Director General of Anti-drugs General Department Brigadier Ahmad Al-Khalifa received a tip-off about an Asian woman working as a domestic helper in a certain private school who traded in drugs, whereas a team of detectives was mobilized to track the suspect down. Undercover officers managed to reach a deal with the woman to purchase one gram of heroin for KD 30, and she was arrested immediately after the transaction was completed.
Meanwhile, the woman led securitymen to her apartment in Salwa, where 50 grams of the contraband was found. The drugs had been divided into several pieces, ready for sale.
She confessed to the crime, and added she sold drugs to inmates at the Central Jail. The suspect has since been referred for prosecution.
Subsidized milk impounded at border : Customs officers at the Salmi border post recently foiled an attempt by unidentified persons to smuggle out of the country four truckloads of subsidized milk powder sufficient to feed one-fourth of Kuwaitis for several weeks, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting reliable sources.
The daily added the Customs authority has sent a detailed report to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on the ongoing smuggling attempts.
Minister of Commerce and Industry Ahmad Al-Haroun has neither denied nor confirmed that there were employees mainly in the ministry’s Supply Department that may be involved in the smuggling operations.
Car thieves caught: Police have arrested three persons in connection with stealing three cars, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the suspects chose their victims from people who go to withdraw money from ATMs leaving the car in operation.
Acting on complaints police intensified their efforts and caught the suspects while attempting to steal another car from in front of a bank branch in Andalus.
Account hacked: Police are looking for an unidentified person for withdrawing KD 500 from the bank account of a Kuwaiti man, reports Al-Shahed daily.
A police source said the Kuwaiti complained to the bank when he discovered KD 500 less in his balance.
He was shocked when the bank told him the money was withdrawn from the ATM of a bank branch in Qurain. The man denied either losing or giving the ATM to any other person.
Police are investigating the incident.
