Filipino maid beats up sponsor
KUWAIT CITY, March 17: Police have arrested a 36-year old Filipino housemaid for assaulting her female sponsor in Sabah Al-Nasser, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
According to reports the sponsor has been admitted to a hospital with a deep cut on the head and bruises on the hands.
The maid is being interrogated.
Maid kills herself: A Sri Lankan housemaid, whose identity has not been disclosed, reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself with a rope inside her sponsor’s home in Ahmadi, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The corpse of the deceased has been referred to Forensics. Police are investigating the death.
Trespasser caught: Police have arrested an unemployed unidentified Kuwaiti man who is believed to be in his 30s for gate-crashing into the palace of an unidentified member of the ruling family in Messilah, reports Al-Shahed daily.
When the guard of the palace tried to stop the man, he allegedly became boisterous. Acting on information police rushed to the spot and overpowered the man and took him to a police station for interrogation.
The daily added at the time of the arrest the man appeared to be disoriented. He also allegedly broke the side glass of the police car.
Gang stealing bricks: The Ahmadi police have taken into custody 11 people for attempting to steal cement bricks from an unidentified location off the Fahaheel Expressway, reports Al-Rai daily. A police source said the bricks belonged to the Ministry of Public Works. The thieves were caught in the act.
Hashish seized: Customs officers at the Abdali border post recently foiled an attempt of an Iraqi truck driver to smuggle hashish into the country, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Without going into details the daily said the officers have seized five-and-a-half kilos of hashish and referred the contraband and the driver to the authorities. The hashish was found hidden in a secret compartment of the truck.
