Kuwait 1/4 Mile Auto Club honors its heroes Sheikh Basel promises new achievements in Abu Dhabi

KUWAIT CITY, March 16: The Kuwait 1/4 Mile Auto & Motorcycle Club held a ceremony on Monday honoring the Kuwaiti racers of the Qatar automotive and motorcycle racing championship (Drag race) 2010.

The club’s Chairman, Sheikh Basel Al-Salem Al-Sabah, honored the racers at the ceremony which was attended by Sheikh Faisal Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Deputy Chairman of the Kuwait 1/4 Mile Auto & Motorcycle Club, as well as other club members.

This season’s drag race held at the Qatar Racing Club witnessed monumental achievements courtesy of the racing teams of Kuwait who have competed for the title of 6 categories out of 10. This resulted in positive outcomes during the 7th and final round of the drag race which was held at the end of February of this year.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Basel Al-Salem Al-Sabah praised God for these successes and referred to the material and moral support His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, has provided and directed towards the young athletes of Kuwait as well as the club.
“While we are honoring our heroes tonight, who have acquired first positions in Qatar, we are waiting for new accomplishments by our Kuwaiti teams during the Abu Dhabi Championship. The championship was organized for the first time in the Yas International Circuit and will commence Thursday evening and continue until Saturday,” he said.
Sheikh Basel promised new achievements in Abu Dhabi under the support of His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince and His Highness the Prime Minister, which is directed at The Kuwait 1/4 Mile Auto & Motorcycle Club’s management and racers.
Regarding the establishment of racing circuits in Kuwait in order to host future racing events, Sheikh Basel assured that things are proceeding as planned as His Highness the Amir has promised to eradicate any obstacles that may hinder developments.
“Next season Kuwait will be among the other Gulf States organizing these kinds of racing activities which will be practice better than before since we have acquired tremendous experience since the mid-eighties,” stated Sheikh Basel.
He added that The Kuwait 1/4 Mile Auto & Motorcycle Club has specific procedures and technicalities of organization that is authenticated by the Public Authority for Youth and Sports as well as the International Federation.
“Everyone is aware of their own responsibilities so there is no need in interfering in the affairs of others and we do not accept intervention in the affairs of the club in either technical or administrative terms. Kuwait is a law abiding country and we trust in the just law,” Sheikh Basel ended.
Regarding the motorcycle competitions, Meshal Al-Sabr from Team STS has won first place in the ‘Pro Bike’ category, Mohammed Bu Rashid from Team MRB has won second place and Mohammed Al-Yaqout won third place. Mohammed Al-Bada of team MRB attained first place in the Super Street Bike category while Kazem Al-Ali took second place and Saqr Al-Khalaf took third.
Badr Bin Aidan won the championship for Kuwait in the Stock Bike category while Mahdi Al-Saraf took second place and Mosfir Al-Mosfir took third.
In the Outlaw category in the car racing competitions, Sheikh Duaij Al-Sabah took first place and Saud Al-Zabin took second. Tarek Al-Qadiri has won first place in the Index 4.5 category and Qassem Al-Ajimi took second while Badr Khorshid took third.
Abdullah Bin Shattan of Team Q80 won first place in the Super Street 8 Cylinder category, Mohammed Qassem attained second place and Mohammed Ashkanani took third place.
