New English School has a reputation for nurturing some outstanding debaters. It was, therefore no surprise when sixth form student Isha Sharma was selected to represent Kuwait at the World School’s Debating Championships in Qatar.

Isha explains ‘It was certainly an experience of a lifetime and it was an honor representing Kuwait as this international competition after months of hard work and practice. The championships encompassed countries from all six continents; Asia, North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Australia making it a truly diverse event. My team and I got to not only debate about global issues but also meet talented and like-minded young people from other parts of the world.’

‘The spirit of sportsmanship and competitive spirit was throughout the competition. The event was a perfect combination of work and play – the Qataris had organised a wonderful desert safari trip for all debaters and the grand opening and closing ceremony along with the break night party was truly memorable.’
