What kind of Iraq do voters want?

EVERYBODY is eagerly waiting for the outcome of the Iraqi elections to determine the type of Iraq that the voters want. However, allegations of electoral fraud in some constituencies have been instigating fear of renewed violence, which might explode due to foreign interference in the affairs of the country as manifested in terrorist activities for several years. Majority of the neighboring nations have never wished for this kind of situation, except the one which is still suffering from the presidential election fraud. This country has been trying to transfer its electoral fraud expertise to Iraq, in order to remain under its control and enhance its corrupt activities on Earth.

At this difficult point in the country’s history, it is not an ordinary situation for the Iraqis to select their representatives, because they are doing this for their future and that of their nation. The election is also about stability of the entire region, especially since the past few years have been full of bloody extremist activities. The Iranian regime thinks it can annex the great country through a handful of people who have sold their conscience to realize the dream of Persian imperialists.

Now, everybody believes — at first glance — that such thoughts have fallen with the transformation of national unity into slogan for blocs and parties during elections. Those who boycotted the 2005 elections have retraced their steps, so they have participated in the democratic activities due to their pure intention to create a new Iraq. These are appropriate responses to the ideologies of unscrupulous terrorists, as well as the disclosure of a hidden destructive alliance between al-Qaeda and Iranian mercenaries in a bid to turn Iraq to another Somalia.

All these indications came into the open after numerous complaints about fraudulent balloting and efforts of Iran-affiliated blocs to win. This situation warns of future danger for the region, not Iraq alone, especially since incidents over the last seven years have established the sensitivity of the geographical, tribal, ethnic and sectarian situations in the country. We cannot discount the possibility of the problem becoming gunpowder that can break the region into violent and backward units.

Anybody who is interested in the stability of the Middle East will realize the significance of allowing the Iraqis to elect their leaders freely after years of autocracy, nepotism, occupation and external interference. However, it seems that some countries do not care about the concept of stability or do not want it at all, so they persistently create disturbances and hostilities throughout the region. They do this by fomenting crises, civil wars, sectarian hostilities or using experience to distort electoral processes in neighboring countries, especially Iraq.

The Iraqi scenario cannot be truly completed if external factors continue to toy with it, although elections are enough indication that extremism is abating in the region, while a new era is overcoming problems created by backward gangsters among Arabs and Muslims. Fresh elections might be necessary before the usurpers and electoral fraudsters take control of citizens through the results of previous elections.
