Computer glitch, absence of workers put labor dept in chaos Visitors express disappointment over employees excuses

KUWAIT CITY, March 12: The Labor Department in Farwaniya Governorate has been congested over the last days due to the frequent breakdown of its computer system, transfer of employees to other departments, and absence of some workers, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.
Sources affirmed the general manager and his deputy has informed the Labor Sector at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor about the department’s problems but the response was very limited. Sources said the archives are unorganized and several boxes of documents were left in the hallways — a possible cause of fire. Processing of transactions is also delayed due to the absence of many section heads, sources disclosed.
Sources stated most of the people, who visited the department to process their paperwork, have expressed disappointment over the excuses given by the employees. They have been asked several times to come back the next day saying the computer broke down or the supervisor is absent. They also questioned the ability of the ministry to implement the automation system at the department. They have to wait in long queues for the completion of their paperwork, hoping that the officer in charge will finally show up or the computers will function again, sources added.

excuses need to stopBill Bowers | 3/14/2010 3:00:36 AM First of all employees should not make excuses period if the supervisor is absence then the Ministry needs to hold the supervisor responsible for not doing their job 1.) the ministry needs to enforce peoples attendance especially the supervisors. People who have excessive absence needs to be removed from their job and put someone who can do the job. 2.) Kuwait claims to be the riches in the GCC area why can't they have modern and updated equipment? Good question. People here need to look at punishing supervisors who failed to appear for work period and failed to do their job.
