KUWAIT CITY, March 10: In support of youth sports activities, Behbehani Motors Company, the sole distributor of Porsche and Volkswagen vehicles in Kuwait, has sponsored Kuwait’s Tennis Open Tournament, organized by Kuwait Tennis Federation over a period of two weeks.
Behbehani Motors Company presented the Golden Award of the tournament a Volkswagen Jetta to the winner Abdullah Yaquob Muqadas. Hussein Morad Behbehani gave away the award on behalf of Behbehani Motors, in the presence of Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, President of Kuwait Tennis Federation, Abdullah Ali, General Manager of Volkswagen, Adel Al-Gharib, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Abdul Ridha Al-Ghareeb, Secretary General of Kuwait Tennis Federation.
Abdullah Ali said “Behbehani Motors’ contribution came to support and sponsor this important tournament, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility activities that the company is engaged in within the Kuwaiti society. The company has been a supporter of this tournament since its launch 10 years ago”.
He added: “Behbehani Motors constantly supports sports and social activities, especially those related to youth, who are considered the cornerstone of any society”.
Abdullah Ali affirmed that Behbehani Motors spares no effort in supporting youth and sports activities, out of its keenness for boosting such activities that require greater encouragement among Kuwaiti youth, including tennis and other activities.
Moreover, he said: “Behbehani Motors believes in the importance of Kuwait’s Tennis Open Tournament, given the great entertainment and excitement that it brings and the popularity it has among younger people”.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Adel Al-Gharib, lauded the constant support that Behbehani Motors gave to the tournament, saying that this reflected the social responsibility that the company has towards youth activities. This support has greatly contributed to the success of the tournament, he added.
The tournament was held from Feb 17 to March 8 and saw the participation of many players registered in local sports clubs, as well as male and female tennis lovers. These included more than 500 players of the National Team and international players.
Kuwait Tennis Federation had places a comprehensive plan to utilize this tournament and to highlight the skills of youth in this game, and formed a committee of observers to monitor the games in order to select talented youth for the federation’s school of the elite under 12.
