Women’s gang busted for selling fake trade permits, minting cash
KUWAIT CITY, March 10: Based on a tip-off received by Director General of the Immigration Security Department about activities of one Egyptian woman, and three other women working in the Commercial Licenses Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry who issued forged commercial licenses, orders were given to bring the suspects to justice, whereas a joint investigation carried out by the two authorities uncovered an estimated 400 forged commercial licenses were issued to illusory companies. Also, about 1,550 laborers have been registered on forged licenses.
In the meantime, a warrant was issued for the Egyptian woman’s arrest, who in turn named her accomplices as three other persons working in the same ministry. She confessed to forging licenses for money.
Sources said the woman, who is working in the country on a dependent visa which is illegal, was referred to the Public Prosecution, and investigation is on-going with the three other suspects.
It is said proceeds from the 400 forged commercial licenses she issued amounts to KD 100,000.

Verification sought: Bahr-ain’s Ministry of Higher Education said the certificates submitted by Kuwaiti students who wish to continue higher education in Bahrain have been referred to the Public Prosec-ution, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting reliable sources.
The sources added this step has been taken by the authorities to ensure the authenticity of the certificates.
The sources added the certificates from the Delmont Unive-rsity are an exemption.

MP files complaint: MP Faisal Al-Muslim has filed a complaint with the Attorney-General Counselor Hamed Al-Othman against MP Hassan Al-Qallaf and general manager of a TV satellite channel, reports Al-Rai daily.
Al-Muslim said Al-Qallaf appeared on the TV channel and issued abusive statements.
Al-Muslim, in another complaint, said the channel on Jan 18, 2010 telecast phrases in the news bar to damage his reputation.
Bootlegger nabbed: Police have arrested an Asian man for trafficking in locally manufactured booze, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The bootlegger, believed to be in his 40,s was caught by a police patrol while on routine duty in Hassawi.
Police are said to have seized from the man’s car 14 bottles of booze and referred him to the authorities.
Woman held drunk: Police have arrested an Arab woman for driving under the influence of alcohol, reports Arrouiah daily.
The woman was ordered to pull over for reckless driving in Hawalli and while issuing a citation, police discovered she was high on alcohol.
In other news police have arrested an Indian man for drinking alcohol. He was caught at a police check point in Murgab.
