‘Walad Al Khair’ made its maiden voyage to Kuwait on March 8. The trip from Antalya to Jebel Ali (Dubai) and then to Kuwait went without incident and Walad Al Khair arrived in pristine condition.
It was mind boggling for Christopher J. Hartley, General Manager of Failaka Heritage village, Captain Hassan and two technicians from Tansal Marine, the builders from Antalya, Turkey on March 7 to lift Walad Al Khair by a large crane into the water from the container ship MV Demas Swala, and then set sail for berth at Marina Crescent which arrived 30 minutes later.
The March 8 was spend cleaning the catamaran, calibrating all the navigation equipment and conducting sea trials.
On March 9, Walad Al Khair carried its first passengers, a group of ladies from the British Ladies Society Kuwait coming to Failaka Heritage Village on a day package, they all thought the voyage was fantastic.
