Maid abducted, forced into prostitution
KUWAIT CITY, March 9 : Police are looking for three Asians for kidnapping a 26-year-old Ethiopian housemaid, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to reports the suspects lay in wait for the victim and bundled her into their vehicle as she came out of the house to throw garbage in the bin in front of her house in Firdous.
The maid has allegedly been taken to a vice den in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and forced into prostitution.
In a phone call to the sponsor the victim said she was being held captive by six men.
Press reports denied: The North Korean Embassy in Kuwait has denied press reports which said its consul in Kuwait was involved in an attempt to smuggle out of the country subsidized flour, reports Arrouiah daily.
In a press release the embassy has strongly condemned such information which will only damage the reputation of the embassy and the consul.
However, according to a Customs officer who foiled the attempt and whose identity has not been disclosed said two North Koreans visited the General Customs Department and one of them presented an ID which said he was the consul and the other an interpreter.
The officer also said the ‘consul’ tried in vain to coax the inspectors to release the shipment.
Forged entry bid: Immigration officers at the Kuwait International Airport have arrested a Sri Lankan woman for attempting to enter the country on a forged travel document, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the woman was stopped at the airport when police discovered the woman was holding a passport which was reported lost by its original owner.
Bootleggers held: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department have arrested four bedoun and an Iraqi for trading in booze, reports Al-Qabas daily.
A police source said one of the bedouns was caught red-handed while selling whisky bottles to a police agent and during interrogation he admitted to bootlegging and led police to his accomplices.
Police have reportedly seized from the suspects 100 bottles of imported booze. The bottles were buried in a three-meter deep trench to avoid detection.
The suspects have been referred to the authorities.
Drugs kill man: The remains of an unidentified Arab man who reportedly died inside his room in Mangaf after taking an overdose of drugs have been referred to Forensics, reports Arrouiah daily.
Police have allegedly found drug consuming tools near the corpse.
Qaeda CDs circulated: Police are looking for a number of people who are suspected of distributing CDs containing the activities of the al-Qaeda organization and interviews with the leader of the organization Osama bin Laden and his aide Ayman Al-Zawahri, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The daily quoting a security source said an unidentified person called police when he saw a man placing CDs on the windshields of cars in the parking lot of the Kuwait Sports Club.
By the time police arrived the suspect had disappeared. It has been reported the cover of the CD contained a picture of two soldiers carrying rifles and the logo read ‘Might is Right’ and a phrase ‘you must listen to the view of all parties’.
Security sources blame the Asians for distributing the CDs.
