Phony deal leads to arrest of cheat for swindling countless

KUWAIT CITY, March 8: Police have arrested an unidentified person who was wanted by law for committing financial fraud worth KD 183,000 and referred him to the authorities, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to the police the man rented a cafÈ in the Free Zone in Shuwaikh and issued checks for KD 4,500 as surety to terminate the contract prematurely.
However, on the day he was supposed to pay the money and get back the cheques, he handed over a ‘bundle of money’ to the company mandoub and excused himself saying he had to hurry to receive people who are coming to pay their condolences on the passing away of his mother.
As soon as the man left, the mandoub opened the packet and was shocked to find the wrapping contained tobacco worth KD 1.
After his arrest the man admitted to fabricating the story about the death of his mother.
On checking records police found the swindler was wanted by law in many other cases.

Thief gets KD 81: Police are looking for an unidentified burglar who allegedly broke into a shop selling cell phones in Jahra and escaped with KD 81 from the cash machine and a number of expensive cell phones, reports Arrouiah daily.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit.

Police hunt embezzler: Police are looking for a Kuwaiti for embezzling a huge sum of money from an unidentified mega company, reports Al-Shahed daily.
 According to reports the suspect was working as a finance manager for the company. The company lawyer has filed a complaint with the Salhiya Police Station.
It has been reported the manager has ‘disappeared’ after the annual inventory.

Nine bedoun to know fate on April 12 in battery, murder : The Court of Appeals Monday set April 12, 2010 to issue a verdict in the case of nine Bedoun who have been convicted of beating to death one bedoun and injuring another.
On Nov 30, 2009, the Criminal Court sentenced Yousef M. to 10 years in jail for running over Fayez J., with his Suburban and killing him.
The court sentenced seven other men to four years for helping the main accused and one man to two years for beating another victim during the fight.
According to the testimony given by the surviving victim, on Dec 24, 2007 the victims who are cousins, met with some of their relatives and friends to discuss an earlier dispute.
The young men went to a deserted area adjacent to Sulaibiya School for Boys to meet the accused. To their surprise, they saw 12 men getting down from a Suburban truck armed with knives, belts and iron rods. The victims ran for their life but Yousef followed them in his truck.
Yousef hit Abdullah with the truck and injured him in the left foot and another accused hit him on the head with an iron rod. Yousef then chased Fayez and hit him with the truck killing him on the spot.
The session was presided over by Judge Mohamed Bu Slaib.
