Kuwaiti women live longer than men

KUWAIT CITY, March 5: As per the annual publication issued by Central Statistics Department, 1,286 Kuwaiti women died in 2008 as against 1,706 men. This indicates Kuwaiti women live longer than their male counterparts, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The report showed blood circulation difficulty is the major cause of death with both genders, and the birth ratio in male is 105 to 100 female, which is a standard ratio globally. However, the population reached 29,289 to record a three percent growth.

It stated the country witnessed 32,281 Kuwaiti births, which accounted for 59.2 percent of 54,571 total births, as against 22,290 by non-Kuwaitis, being 40.8 percent. On the other hand, a total of 5,701 deaths were recorded within that year, out of which 2,992 Kuwaitis were registered making 52.5 percent, with 2,709 non-Kuwaiti deaths accounting for 47.5 of the overall deaths.
