Alleged Pakistani girl’s ‘killer’ referred to ‘psychiatric’ Egyptian man’s mental ability being measured
KUWAIT CITY, March 5: The Public Prosecution Thursday referred Alaa Ahmad Mohammed an Egyptian, who was accused of raping and murdering the Pakistani girl Maryam Fadhel, after he admitted to committing the murder and also re-enacted the crime in front of senior Interior Ministry officials and the Public Prosecution to the Psychiatric Hospital to ‘measure’ his mental ability, reports Al-Rai daily.
Maryam was found alive. She had apparently eloped with her boyfriend and was holed up in an apartment in Abu Halifa.
Earlier it was reported Alaa had denied all allegations against him when he was produced in court and said he was tortured to admit to the crime which he had not committed.
However, he was charged with raping many children and the murder of the Pakistani girl, based on his earlier confession to the security authorities.
According to reports published earlier, Alaa had admitted to raping 18 other people and confessed to strangling Maryam to death after raping her and dumping her remains in a garbage bin.
The garbage dump was thoroughly searched by the security authorities but no remains were found. However, the security authorities found a scarf allegedly worn by the victim, but the family denied the scarf belonged to the victim.
