MoH ‘planning’ legal action against absentees, violators ‘Children with diabetes need adequate care’
KUWAIT CITY, March 3: Senior officials from the Civil Service Commission (CSC) disclosed the ministries and government institutions have been requested by CSC to list the names of workers who were absent from work a week ahead of the National and Liberation Days holiday and subsequent days, beginning Tuesday March 2, 2010, to pave the way for evaluation of the repercussion of their absence from duty, besides the material losses the government incurred, reports Al-Jareeda daily quoting reliable sources from CSC.
The officials noted CSC requested all sick leaves must be referred to the medical council for cross check, and ordered the concerned authorities to reject any chits issued by clinics or private health centers, apart from government hospitals. It will forward a memo to the Cabinet on the actual number of absentees to ensure administrative penalties are issued against violators, the officials pointed out.
In a related development, sources from the Health Ministry revealed the ministry is set to form a committee, which will cooperation with the CSC to control the issuance of sick leaves, under the supervision of the Medical Council to see to doctors’ signature and approval, whereas the violators, including physicians, will be expelled or referred to the Public Prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health will announce the names of the heads of medical departments at the government hospitals and specialized centers within the coming week.
In other developments, the Director of Hawalli Health Zone Dr Abdulaziz Al-Farhoud noted diabetes in children can cause lifetime distress, so children living with diabetes must be given adequate care. In a statement, Al-Farhoud clarified the Hawalli Health Zone is keen on participating in the camp for children suffering from diabetes.
The camp is being held in Kuwait for the first time under the supervision of Diabetes and Glands Unit of the Pediatric Section at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital, in cooperation with the Health Committee and Nutrition Section of the Hawalli Health Zone. He indicated the campsite will be at Saleel Park in Jahra Saturday March 6, 2010. Several notable personalities are expected to take part in the activities.
