11 die, 13,821 citations issued, 724 cars, 68 bikes seized in 24 Feb -27 Feb bash Typist held for selling forged visas at KD 1,000 each

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 28: National and Liberation Day holidays saw the death of 11 people in road accidents, the Ministry of Interior said on Sunday, adding that 13,821 citations were issued while 724 cars and 68 motorbikes were compounded.
Each of the deaths occurred at different times and on separate occasions during the country’s national celebrations from Feb 24-27, the ministry’s spokesperson Colonel Mohammad Al-Saber told KUNA.
The road violations also took place during Kuwait’s four-day public celebrations on varied roads, Al-Saber added.
The official urged drivers to abide by traffic laws and driving etiquette for their own safety and in order to limit these hazardous road accidents.
Meanwhile, some 143 cases have been handled during the National days celebrations, of them 46 were hospitalized, while 97 others were treated on the spot, the Medical Emergency Department of the Ministry of Health declared here Sunday.
Of the cases hospitalized, there were 26 who fell as a result of quarrels, six due to road accidents, besides 14 who fell as a result of tumble and fatigue injuries in various sites of the Gulf Road and the areas of Chalets, Wafra, Sabhan and Failaka island, Assistant Deputy of the Technical Affairs of the MoH Dr Khaled Al-Sahlawi said in a press statement to KUNA.
He also noted that the MoH had deployed 20 ambulances in the celebrations’ sites, besides supplying two main clinics at the Gulf Road thoroughfare with necessary medical appliances and technical crews.

Four held with drugs: Police arrested four GCC nationals, in their 20s and 30s, for the possession of 12 narcotic pills and drug paraphernalia in Umm Al-Haiman Saturday.
While patrolling the area, police noticed a speeding vehicle, so they signaled for the driver to pull over. During routine inspection, police took note of the troubled expression in the faces of the driver and his three companions — all GCC nationals. The securitymen searched the vehicle where they discovered 12 narcotic pills and some equipment used for consuming drugs.  The suspects were referred to the relevant authorities for prosecution.

6 hurt in fight: A free-for-all among nine men was reported Saturday in Farwaniya, resulting in injuries to six and one of them is said to be in a serious condition.
Securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location immediately after receiving a call about the fight. Investigations revealed the men used sharp objects to attack each other and six were injured — one sustained serious injuries. They were taken to Farwaniya Hospital.

Two costly horses stolen: A Kuwaiti, in his 40s, lodged a complaint at Kabad Police Station Saturday against some unidentified persons who allegedly stole two horses worth KD 6,000 from his stable.
The complainant told police he discovered the theft when he went to the stable and found two horses worth KD 6,000 were missing.  He then rushed to the station to report the incident.  Criminal Evidence Department personnel later arrived at the scene and lifted fingerprints to identify the thieves.

Typist selling fake visas: Personnel from the General Immigration Department have arrested an Egyptian typist for forging work permits, reports Al-Anba daily.
This came when a GCC citizen who went to apply for a maid was told that he already has one maid under his sponsorship. When the sponsor denied sponsoring anyone and filed a complaint with police, the maid was arrested and during interrogation she admitted to paying KD 1,000 for the visa.
Further investigations led to the arrest of the typist. During interrogation he admitted to the charge and said he used a color scanned to forge the work permit.

Drunk woman insults police: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti woman for driving under the influence of alcohol and humiliating police on duty, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to security sources the arrest came while the woman was celebrating the National Day at an unidentified location. She was initially reprimanded for violating traffic laws. However, when she began humiliating a police officer on duty, he got the smell of alcohol.
In has also been reported the woman was wanted by law for causing an accident and escaping from the scene of the crash.
The daily added this is the second time the woman has been booked for humiliating police on duty.

Drug peddler nabbed:
Police have arrested a Kuwaiti man from Sulaibiya for trafficking in drugs, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to security sources the suspect was arrested on suspicion by police on routine duty. Police are said to have recovered 480 narcotic pills and three pieces of hashish and referred him to the authorities.

Burglar takes cash, docus: Police are looking for an unidentified burglar who allegedly broke into the home of a Kuwaiti man in Hittin and escaped with two bags — a Samsonite containing official documents, passports, KD 1,000 and $1,500 and the other containing jewelry, reports Al-Shahed daily.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit.

‘You have won a lottery’: Police are looking for an unidentified person for cheating a 43-year-old Pakistani man, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The cheat reportedly telephoned the man and said he had won a lottery worth KD 30,000 and said he had to pay KD 550 to avail the prize. The man fell for the trap and met the suspect in Fahaheel. After taking the money the suspect escaped in a Japanese car.

3 Chinese arrested: Personnel from the Vital Installations Protection Department have arrested three Chinese for attempting to enter the Ahmadi Port using forged entry permits, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily quoting security sources said the men were detained on suspicion because they looked confused.
The men have been referred to the State Security Department for interrogation.
