20 yr old arrested for spraying foam on police car Team probes Sharq tower fire
Police have arrested a 20-year-old GCC citizen for humiliating a traffic police officer on duty, reports Al-Shahed daily. This happened when the suspect sprayed foam on the officer while monitoring traffic on the Arabian Gulf Street. The youth has been referred to the Da’iya Police Station.
Team probes Sharq tower fire : The Deputy Director-General of the Sharq Fire Services Brigadier Yousif Al-Ansari said a fact-finding team is carrying out investigations to unravel the mystery surrounding the burning of two buildings and a tower Friday afternoon.

Brigadier Al-Ansari explained the fire started at the tower and later extended to two nearby buildings on the left and right. He added the department got information about the incident at 2:51 pm and the first team of firefighters reached the place within three minutes, while other teams joined them within eight minutes.
He stated 70 firefighters from 10 stations took part in the firefighting operation, so they controlled the blaze in less than 30 minutes, which was extinguished completely within one hour. He stressed the prompt response by fire officers minimized losses, and commended security officers from the Interior Ministry, led by the Capital Security Chief Major General Tareq Hamdah for effectively condoning the vicinity to ensure public safety.
In another incident, firefighters from Mishref and Salmiya stations successfully controlled a fire that engulfed the kitchen of a popular resort in Beda without any loss of lives.
The officers received reports about the fire Friday night and swiftly set out for action. Firefighters attached to the hotel tried their best to prevent the fire from spreading until the teams arrived. The officers evacuated the occupants, provided ventilation and inspected the affected location.
The Director of Public Relations and Information at the Directorate General for Fire Services Lt. Colonel Khalil Al-Amir thanked security officers at the hotel for the prompt action in evacuating the occupants, and the preliminary control of the blaze.
