Cheap tickets, cheap land, expat swindles thousands Saddam-lover held

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 24: The Hawalli police have arrested an unemployed expatriate for swindling people, reports Al-Rai daily.
A police source said the arrest came following a complaint filed by an unidentified expatriate saying the cheat offered to sell him air tickets for a low price and escaped with KD 1,500.
According to reports when police began investigating the complaint it was discovered the suspect had played the same trick with another person, however, this time he pretended to be a real estate broker and escaped with KD 25,000 from another person.
Following his arrest the suspect is said to have admitted to committing the crimes. He was picked up by the victims from a legal lineup.

Asian trio nabbed:  The Farwaniya police have arrested three Bangladeshis for breaking into cars of worshippers, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily quoting security sources said police acting on complaints put the area under surveillance from where the thefts were reported and caught the thieves red-handed.
During interrogation at a police station, the suspects are said to have admitted to stealing from 20 cars.
The Arrouiah daily said the thieves are Kuwaitis and they are specialists in stealing credit cards from cars and withdrawing money from banks.

Liquor peddlers held:
Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department have arrested two bedouns for trading in narcotics and booze, reports Al-Anba daily.
The suspects were caught red-handed while selling a carton of whisky for KD 750 to a police agent.
Police then searched the men’s car and seized 70 more bottles of whisky and 5,000 narcotic pills.

Ex-Co-op staffer a thief: Police have arrested a Syrian — former accountant of a cooperative society — for stealing goods, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
It has been reported he used his goodwill with the employees of the coop since he was a former employee and said he was collecting empty cartons of mineral water, however, the CCTV camera showed the man was stealing expensive items.
Police raided the apartment of the accountant and arrested him red handed in possession of stolen stuff and referred him to authorities.

Egyptian run over, dies: An Egyptian man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was reportedly run over by a Kuwaiti motorist while crossing the Sixth Ring Road at an unidentified location, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The remains of the victim have been referred to Forensics. The motorist has been detained at a police station for interrogation.

Saddam-lover held: Police have arrested a bedoun for attempting to steal ‘stuff’ from Amghara, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
However, a police source said the man was caught red-handed and was referred to the State Security police because he had Saddam Hussein’s picture saved on his cell phone and a phrase glorifying him.

2 hurt in signal violation:  Two men — a Kuwaiti and an Asian sustained injuries and bruises following a two-vehicle collision in Murgab, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
A police source said one of the cars overturned. The accident was caused by one of the motorists who skipped the red traffic light and hit the oncoming vehicle.
