Team in probe of US brass for corruption

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 21: Members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) are investigating the alleged involvement of senior US Army officials serving in Kuwait and Iraq in corruption and financial irregularities, reports Al-Shahed daily.  The daily quoting reliable sources said the investigation team resides in a hotel on the outskirts of Kuwait. The daily added, initial investigations have revealed that some US suppliers are involved in money laundering, smuggling drugs and offering huge commissions to senior officers in the US army.

The sources went on to say the FBI and the CIA members are in touch with some Kuwaiti companies and have reportedly reviewed tenders and deals with the US army, especially those related to the Camp Arifjan.
The sources added the CIA and FBI members have violated local laws by bypassing legal official channels.
However, the sources added security agencies have concrete evidences about the involvement of some senior officers and suppliers about bribery and smuggling oil from Kuwait to Iraq through the ‘Gate’ used by coalition troops. Some local Kuwaiti companies are said to be involved in bribes and commissions to the US officials to win tenders.
