Asian held with liquor: 80 hoax calls in ’09

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 20: Police have arrested an Asian man for trafficking in local-made alcohol, reports Al-Rai daily.
The trafficker had parked his car in an open ground in Mahboula, but sped away when police approached. This aroused the suspicion of police and they chased and arrested him in possession of 17 bottles of alcohol. 

Iraqi flouts travel ban:  Officers at the Abdali border post arrested an Iraqi man who managed to leave and return to the country despite having a travel ban on him, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Sources say the Iraqi was wanted by law, but with the help of an employee at the border post, he managed to leave the country and return too. Passport officers made the discovery and referred him to authorities.  A case has been registered against the employee.

80 hoax calls in ’09: Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) received 80 hoax calls last year, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily quoting acting director general Brigadier Yousef Al-Ansari.
Al-Ansari lamented hoax calls impede the work of firefighters and might endanger lives of many people in case such calls coincide with real fire incidents.  He warned the authorities will take the necessary legal action against those behind the prank calls.


Drug pills found: Ahmadi securitymen have arrested a man in possession of 36 narcotic pills in Mangaf, reports Al-Rai daily.
While patrolling the area, police noticed the suspicious behavior of the suspect when he reached the checkpoint.  Police searched his car where they found 36 narcotic pills.  He was referred to the authorities for prosecution.
The daily has also reported that Farwaniya police officers have arrested two persons for the possession of 30 narcotic pills and two rolls of hashish. 
When police noticed a speeding vehicle, they asked the driver to pull over.  During routine inspection, police found the drugs in the car, so they referred the driver and his companion to the relevant authorities for the necessary legal action.

KD 35,000 boat stolen: Police are looking for thieves who stole a fiber-glass fishing boat worth KD 35,000, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The Kuwaiti owner of the boat is said to have lodged a complaint at Rumaithiya police station and reported the boat had been stolen in front of the house.

Egyptian robbed: Police are looking for an unidentified burglar who broke into the house of an Egyptian man in Hawalli and escaped with electrical appliances, besides some other goods, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department lifted fingerprints from the scene.
