Maki vs Boushahri
Maki played one of their best games ever when they overcome Boushahri in 2 sets 25-23, 25-19 after a tough first set when see-sawed from one end to the other before striding through the 2nd set.
The first set of the game saw Maki in their best shoes when #3 Ella hit a spike to score while #8 Gino fired an ace along with a block from #14 Ric to take a 5-1 at one point that called for Boushahri’s initial break.

Meanwhile, it was not very long before #2 Jerome of Maki delivered another solid spike that took his team to an 8-2 lead when a technical time out was called.
However, Boushahri again appeared to start on the wrong foot although they acquired the first 4 points through errors from their rivals with #2 Jerry making his mark with an ace followed by a block from #7 Jopay and #14 Jhomz while it seemed that the net did not cooperate with #3 Ella and #2 Jerome from the other side of the court that resulted in the gap being closed to 7-9 points.
On the other hand, Maki’s setter #14 Ric set up the ball just over the net that resulted in #3 Ella hit a bamboozling spike that caught their rivals unawares and he was supported with back to back spikes from #2 Jerome, #5 KC and #8 Gino while one of Boushahri’s finest member #4 Wilton hit an over the net drop shot followed by a #7 Jopay spike. Meanwhile there were a number of errors by Maki but they remained in control as they held on to a 2-point lead 16-14.

Wearing jersey #14 Ric of Maki used his wits because when it seemed that he would set up the ball, he just dropped it across the net to which their opponents had no reply. Maki consistently gathered points through blocks from #3 Ella and #2 Jerome and a #5 KC spike but from the other side of the net #7 Jopay, #14 Jhoms and #4 Wilton managed to deliver solid spikes that saw them level, first on 20-20 and then 21-21.
Maki then took the driver’s seat through hard spikes from #2 Jerome, #8 Gino and #3 Ella that put them ahead 24-21 but when Boushahri saw a service error from #4 Wilton Maki took the set 25-23.
In the 2nd set Maki were not complacent at any point with another witty drop shot from #14 Ric while it appeared that Boushahri faced a lot of pressure as they needed to win the set to push for a 3rd deciding set and this pressure seemed to weaken them as they gained a number of errors on their services which hit the ceiling while their spikes that handed the advantage to their rivals who moved ahead, to lead 8-3 but they soon increased this lead to 11-4.

Maki pressed hard on the accelerator and they put up a strong defense with good blocks and back to back spikes from #5 KC and #8 Gino while their rivals consistently kept running into errors that saw them take a 16-8 lead before a technical time out was called.
One of Maki’s finest members #3 Ella come up with back to back spikes while their overwhelming energy saw them drive in a number of powerful spikes that landed out of the courts and favored their opponents who cut the lead to 12-18 at one point.
Meanwhile, in the last moments of the set #10Vester hit 3 back to back spikes for Maki along with similar shots from #1 Joey, #5 KC and a jump spike from #Ella handed them a 25-19 point victory.
